WELCOME TO THE FAMILY

Bennette & Theron applied to Boots and Leaves Adoption Agency with their hearts on their sleeves and hopes set sky high that they would be approved to be a forever home with one of their children in need. While they waited in angst for a reply from one of the case workers at B&L, they anxiously checked the website multiple times a day, Theron even waking in the middle of the night to stare and memorize each and every face in hopes that one of those tiny little humans would be in his arms calling him Dad.

When they finally got the news, the call came early in the morning. Upon seeing the name on the caller id, Bennette woke Theron and with racing hearts and their stomachs in their throat, they answered the phone placing it on speaker. Both burst into tears to hear that they were approved and would be meeting their daughter soon. Not being able to sleep, they got on Simazon and began choosing furniture for their little one’s bedroom, but not knowing much about their little, they couldn’t do much else but ‘window shop.’

Nothing could hold Bennette’s attention throughout the day as she paced the halls of their farmhouse in wait to hold her daughter in her arms.

“Where are they?” She’d say for the millionth time, throwing her head back in exasperation.

Theron, being the ever doting lover, rubbed her arms gently as he pulled her to him, embracing her. “Soon. We’ll get to see her soon.”

Soon turned into hours later, with Bennette sitting on the couch replying to comments on her simumblr and checking current orders that needed to be filled, glancing out the window every now and again, while Theron put the finishing touches on his F4U-1D Corsair Model Airplane.

When the knock on the door finally sounded the arrival of the B&L representative and social worker handling their case, they both jumped and ran. Taking deep breaths, hearts beating against their chests, they opened the door to see a beautiful tall brunette with blue eyes and olive skin standing before them and in her arms she held the world. With big brown eyes, so alert and intelligent stared up at them, taking them in already wrapping them around her tiny little finger. Biting her bottom lip, Bennette reached out and ran the inside of her index finger along the little girls hand. Just that small touch caused her to light up brighter than the sun. With a big gummy smile, she began kicking her feet, her little arms working just as hard.

Bennette let out a sound that was somewhere between a laugh and a cry as she reached her hands out to her, the case worker gently relinquished her old on the five month old baby, allowing Bennette to pull her into her arms cradling her gently against her breast as she ran the tip of her nose across her daughter’s.

“Hello, Arianna..” She whispered as tears spilled over her eyelashes. “I’m your Mommy.”
