This flesh, man… it’s really up to no good. It only wants what “feels good”, leaving us unsatisfied and further away from God. Paul said in Romans 7:18, “For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.”
I have been seriously battling against my flesh these past few days. It’s like my eyes have been opened to truly see just how sinful and evil it really is, and I clearly see the battle between flesh and Spirit: I know I should be spending time with God, but I instead find myself mindlessly scrolling through IG reels and tik toks that are only feeding my flesh, killing me spiritually.
If it’s one thing I learned, it’s this: if you aren’t being influenced by God, you’re being influenced by the world and, ultimately, by Satan.
You see, we pray, “God, use me”, but how can we expect to be used by God when we don’t give Him the time to instruct, lead, teach, build, and guide us? Look at what Jesus promised to those of us who love Him in Mark 16:17-18:
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
How can we do any of these great acts when we are filled with the world’s garbage rather than with the Holy Spirit?
Ephesians 5:14-18 | King James Version
14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
There’s work to be done for God’s kingdom, but how can it be done if no one is willing to do it because we would rather be entertained and indulge in social media and every other flesh-feeding activity/substance?
Matthew 9:37-38 | King James Version
37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;
38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
