summary.. after your break up with singer!chris, his heartbreak gets worse and worse but when he gets a notification of your new post he finally gets rid of your stuff and makes a song about it

⚠︎ angst, crying, heartbreak

it's been months since the breakup, you had left chris because you were moving away, and couldn't handle a long distance relationship

chris said he understands but did he really?, he looked hurt, like he wasn't ready to let go, you told him you were going to keep contact but every call he made or every text he sent you never answered

so he thought you blocked him or didn't want anything to do with him, chris was heartbroken, crying in matts and nicks arms, looking at your photos in his gallery, smoking cigarettes and drinking whiskey, trying to drown and smoke his pain away

smelling his sheets because they smelled like you and most of all, a small teddy bear you have given him for his birthday, he kept in his grasp like it was you

it's now been six months, three months after the breakup and chris still was heartbroken, writing songs about you and thinking about you and him

now it's been nine months and chris finally is over the heartbreak, for now. chris was on his bed watching tiktok when he got a notification on Instagram

new post!

it says, it's your Instagram account, chris clicked it and when he did he gripped his phone so hard his knuckles turned white

it was you and a guy in a romantic restaurant with the caption " first date.. kinda nervous😅" chris got so mad he threw his phone on the bed and instantly got up

he threw all the stuff you had given him in a basket and put it outside, it was dark, the stars were out and the moon was shining

matt and nick were sleeping so chris had to be quiet not to wake them up, once chris got outside he grabbed the lighter fluid and a match

chris poured the lighter fluid and lit the match, chris looked at the match, his pupils dilating at the sight, then without thinking he threw the match

watching the match lit up the basket, chris watched as the stuff burned, to a photo of you and chris hugging, to the bear he was hugging the day after the breakup

as the fire died down and eventually stopped, chris went into his room making sure to slam the door quietly, he opened his laptop his mouse was hovering over a song he had in a folder, that he was never going to release

he was doubting if he should do it, but then he pressed the button, then he closed his laptop with a sigh, before going into bed and shutting his eyes

-the next day-

chris had woke up to his phone buzzing with notifications, when chris checked, the song had become number five on the billboard, with thousands of edits and people lip syncing to the song

chris was shocked, stunned even. the song wasn't meant to be popular, atleast not to him. if the song was popular then that means you are going to hear it

chris checked his tiktok, a bunch of edits of him and you were all over his page with his new song

chris- what the fuck?, he says, still shocked that his song is now one of his biggest and most popular songs

chris scrolled through the edits and watched all of them, even reading the comments, but as he continued watching them he realized that he might be missing you again.

as he continued to watch the edits a specific one came up, the edit showed the picture of y/n and her new boyfriend with the lyrics "baby, I bet your happy now, probably found you someone new, who's got his life all figured out"

then it transitioned to the part of chris sitting in his room writing lyrics to other songs with the lyrics "as for me I stay locked up in this old bedroom, writing songs for you and thinking about us"

and the last part had transitioned to the part where both you and chris had your happy cute moments together with the lyrics "girl I thought it was love"

and as he stared at his phone screen, chris had broken down in tears, because he really did thought it was love, he knew it was love

but I guess he didn't know what love was
