This is a short, interactive fiction for the Single Choice Jam (2025) hosted by @neointeractives. The jam ran from July 15, 2025 to August 16, 2025.
Written by an Indigenous Filipino, Letters for the Letter Carrier is a mundane, fantasy, interactive fiction inspired by Igorot settings. It's about community building, and being a stressed, bat-winged, letter carrier in an era of texts and emails.
Release Date: August 15, 2025 Status: Completed Word Count: ~6,000
You are a bat-winged Cordilleran, an Indigenous local to the Cordillera mountains, and you work as a letter carrier. Times are tough and its just the first day of the second month. Perhaps you should look for something else but the job market is vicious. At the very least, you could look into aplications for the rest of the year, work until you can collect your 13th month pay, then quit.
You are very stressed and in need of comfort. Fortunately, the people around you want to help, and will help.
This is a day in the life of a letter carrier—during an era where emails are the norm.
Game Jam: This is an entry for the Single Choice Jam (2025). Mini-game: This is a standalone mini-game. Age Restriction: PG-13
CWs Include but are Not Limited to: Blood and mentions of discrimination based on wing structure and if someone has wings or not. Single Choice: The rules of the game jam requires only one choice, but allows for a timer to lead to a different scene when it runs out. The Single Choice is initially locked for a minute to encourage the player to breathe like the Player Character. Timers: There are two kinds of timers. The first one is always a minute, and when it passes, the Single Choice is unlocked. The second one will have a countdown of different lengths, depending on the task. If they reach 0, the game notes it, but you must still click on the Single Choice to proceed. Ending: Waiting for the countdown or not shapes the player character's thoughts and feelings, but does not change the ending.
Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, places, entities, and incidents are either the products of the author’s imagination or are used in a fictitious manner. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental.
