High effort shitpost for my favorite indie comic as of late. Read Runaway to the Stars by Jay Eaton if you like hard sci fi and aerospace engineering and neurodivergent aliens that make you cry.

Do Avian brights and duns sound different? If so how?

Duns have deeper voices, partly because they are bigger, partly because puberty. Idk if I've mentioned it here yet but Sirawit (an unusually large avian) is canonically a baritone.

The Runaway is a z-pinch fusion torchship with a habitat module that experiences approximately 1g during engine burns, and microgravity when the ship is docked or maneuvering. The living space adapts between these two conditions, though cooking is definitely more challenging without "gravity"... The crew run The Runaway as a rapid transit vessel, taking passengers and goods in between wormhole gates throughout local space. Talita is the lead engineer, Idrisah and Gillie handle port paperwork and translation for avian and bug ferret languages, and Sirawit handles food and supplies acquisition. Anonymous asked: Hey Gillie, how do you and Sirawit talk to one another? Avian hands don't exactly have the right number of fingers for human sign language, so do you guys pass notes, or have you made up your own thing for communication?

I swear Gillie and Bip actually like each other, they just express this via mutual bullying.

Interacting with the cultural decency standards of aliens doesn't necessarily make the ones you grew up with less meaningful.
