Checking in with the Goblin King
Jareth came to a stop, swerved around on his heal and glared down at Crystallin. “Inappropriate indeed.” he nearly barked at her, but regretted his cruel response instantly and sighed. “What is it, Crystallin?” he asked in a softer tone, giving a gentle smile.
He respected the girl and he couldn’t deny she was good at her job. And beautiful, definitely so. Jareth’s dark mood was brought on by nothing obvious, he just felt cranky. The sound of tiny pattering feet echoed from down the corridor and a small goblin came to the door, fully aware of the Kings dark glare as he turned to the creature. “Not now, Ratzic!” he bellowed and the goblin squealed and vanished.
Jareth sighed again and put his head in his hands, massaging his temples.
Crystallin rested her cheek on the arm of the divan, looking completely serious for Jareth’s sake. It was the least she could do if he was truly angry. Although - it was much harder not to smile at the poor little goblin who’d come running had to turn tail and run right back the other way. Still she could tell that Jareth was in no mood for anything remotely business-related yet.
She sat up and folded her legs beneath her, opening at least half the divan to Jareth which she invited him to by patting the spot next to her. “It’s nothing pressing your grace, just the usual court updates and favor exchanges. Why not just sit for a moment and clear your head first?”
There was always an air of mischief behind her smiles - it couldn’t be helped, but the one she offered Jareth now was nothing short of warm and calming.
Checking In with the Goblin King
Crystallin didn't know why Jareth was her favorite king to run errands to and for - it wasn't as if he acted as a particular way to her - but something about him made her smile by the time she left. While it wasn't her favorite job to run between kingdoms to help the kings and queens with errands and messages, it did give her a freedom of sorts; Jareth's labyrinth was amusing to visit to say the least.
She lounged on the divan boredly, waiting for the king in question to appear. No she hadn't announced herself, but she never had to wait very long. It didn't seem to anyway. Crystallin toyed with a bright orange curl, smiling at the twists and turns it took for a moment before she let her head fall back over the edge; she could hear a set of doors being opened not too far away. Sure enough Jareth strode in looking quite distracted. In fact he didn't seem to notice her at all.
"You look as though this is an inopportune time your highness. Should I come back later?" she asked with a sweet smile. It wasn't as if she'd wander far, but it was no good talking to him if he was upset. If he was deep in thought - she might be able to stay on the divan. It was quickly becoming her favorite seat in his quarters.
