Reverse Dysmorphia
So, I had to go to a fitting for our new work uniforms. I knew that my size 14s were tight, so I figured, I’d wear maybe an 18. I know I’m fat, so it wasn’t that much of a surprise... I tried 18, then 20, then 22. I barely got the 22 over my butt. I had to get a size 24 trouser and an XL top. That was while wearing a minimizer bra and a full body briefer (Underbust to calf length) How can I still look at myself in the mirror and not see myself as that fat? I don’t look like that in the mirror... So I took some pictures with my phone. I REALLY am that big!!! How can I not see it? I don’t see myself as skinny! I see myself as this gross fat whale, but I don’t see the reality of just how fat... just how disgusting my body is with my own eyes! I have to take pictures to really see it! When I look in the mirror it’s like my mind can’t conceive of me being that, so it just sees the last “acceptable” thing it can and erases reality from my sight. Right now, I want to puke thinking about how disgusting I am. On top of that I ran into my ex, who hasn’t seen me since I was a size 6 and he just stared at me. He’s still in perfect shape. I just waddled past him as fast as I could and tried not to cry in public.
