sylvan jumping spider + skeleton tarantula
Second arachnid post!?
The fearsome skeleton tarantula — this fine bloke is Ephebopus Murinus of the Theraphosidae genus. Named for their distinctive calcium-mimicking markings, these tarantulas are known for their terrestrial lifestyles, which are unique to the mostly tree-dwelling Aviculriinae.
I will be on the search for more radical arthropods like this one. In the meantime, your favourite major insect order?
Favourite insect order, the real question
Coleoptera (beetles)
Lepidoptera (butterflies and moths)
Hymenoptera (eusocial insects)
Diptera (flies)
Orthoptera (grasshoppers, crickets, locust)
Odonta (dragonflies and damsel flies. why don't they end in "ptera"??)
Homoptera (aphids, cicadas, planthoppers)
Hemiptera (backswimmers, waterstriders. I don't thinkthis will gain many votes )
Female yellow-kneed skeleton tarantulas with spiderlings, Ephebopus murinus, Aviculariinae
