The Apotheosis of War (1871) - Detail by Vasily Vereshchagin
Saw some shitposts involving humorous edits of Calvin and Hobbes comics and wanted to make one of my own
I don’t know what inspired this specifically but it makes me laugh in a dark humor sort of way
Part 5: Skeletonization
Time has rotten down here with me. How long has it been since my last glass of wine? Since I last spoke or laughed? How long since the drum of my heart came to a final halt and stilled forever in my chest? It is difficult to tell the dark silence of my coffin. I have stopped some time ago. There is no point in counting eternity.
It is a dry thing now, the body. It does not breath yet I choke at the particules floating in the air. I cannot tell wether they are composed of dust or dried skin or perhaps else. I do not care enough to wonder. My bones are desiccated and of yellowish gruesome shade. They never were white. White is for brides and the righteous. But brides never wear white for long and there is no holiness upon men.
The skull’s empty sockets stare at my soul accusingly, like I have wronged it and perhaps I have. It does not matter anymore, we are stuck together, the copse and I. I and the copse. I don’t quite know where one starts and where the other ends. It is cold without a flesh but I do not shiver. The chill passes me through to come nest in the cavities inside my bones. It is my closest friend, the cold. I know it will never leave my side. So we stay, the corpse, the cold and I awake and together forever. And ever. And ever.

Sooo this is it! Finally done with the Days of Decay series! I really loved writing it and thank you all so much for the support!
I’m going to be skeletonizing this pretty little lady (she was full of eggs) in about a week. Today we just did a quick dissection and took some measurements.
