SkidsSwerve

1. How did they meet?

We all know their first meeting, but the first real introduction they had to each other was when Swerve roped Skids in to helping him open the bar. The bar was essentially ready to go from the moment they discovered it, but Swerve was nervous about it and Skids stuck with him through his nervousness and encouraged him to open it.

2. Big Spoon/Little Spoon?

Swerve is the little spoon because he’s small but also he backpacks Skids sometime to be the “big spoon”.

3. Who initiated the Conjunx ritus, and who finished it?

Swerve started it in a fit of boldness that he almost immediately took back because he started thinking it was too forward, that maybe Skids wasn’t ready for it, maybe Skids didn’t love him enough to be conjunx. He nearly talked his way out of it before Skids pulled him in, kissed him, and initiated the next part of the ritus.

4. Which one purrs more?

Sometimes it’s hard to tell because both of them do it, but Swerve does it more often and more communicatively - Skids insists that Swerve’s purring is just one more way for him to talk endlessly and he’ll translate it from time to time, though whether he’s actually translating or making up translations is really up for debate.

5. Who takes more engex, and how do they like it?

Skids drinks more and keeps switching up his drinks. Swerve often tests out new drinks on Skids because he’ll not only tell him if he likes it, he’ll suggest any changes Swerve could make. Together, they’ve made an entire secret menu of drinks to introduce to the bar later.

6. Who gets more paintjobs?

Skids does because he has a tendency to ruin his paint more than Swerve does. Though he’s also likely to repaint Swerve from time to time because Swerve tends to let his paint fade and chip.

7. Who has a worst taste in color?

Swerve. He likes the gaudy, bright colors and it takes Skids a while to talk him down into not repainting the bar to look like a 80s dance club.

8. During the war, are they in the same faction? If not, how does this affect their relationship?

The war didn’t affect their relationship at all, due to them not really knowing each other during the war. Some of the lingering effects of their respective war traumas do interrupt their relationship sometimes and Swerve can get frustrated by Skids’ insistence on working through his amnesia sometimes and Skids will get frustrated right back because he wants to know, Swerve.

9. Do they sleep cuddled together, or side-by-side?

Definitely cuddled together. Skids likes to curl Swerve close to him, tucking his head against Swerve’s hood.

10. What do they do after the war? (if they met during the war)

Skids thinks, after the quest is over, he’d like to settle somewhere and open a school. Swerve wants to explore the universe more, have adventures, and all that jazz. They argue sometimes about it, trying to find a happy medium.

11. Did anyone predict them getting together?

Oh, definitely. Nautica’s been teasing Skids about his crush on Swerve since they became friends and Tailgate’s been rooting for Swerve to ask Skids out since they met.

12. What makes them a good pairing?

Red and blue. Seriously, though, look at their interactions in canon. Swerve really dedicates himself to Skids and the friendship he initially assumes with him. Skids realizes it late, but also dedicates himself to Swerve, once he realizes that he’s been negligent. They’ve got a good chemistry going and Skids says it himself “Skids and Swerve” has a ring to it.

13. If they had (a) sparkling(s), what would they be like?

Skids’ tendency to jump into things + Swerve’s lack of filter = excitable, head-strong and pushy sparkling. Likely a ringleader for the playground adventurers, getting into places they shouldn’t be (like the labs), and managing to talk their way out of getting in trouble for it. Has plenty of Skids’ charm and Swerve’s easy-going attitude. Combines the need for attention with the need to make sure their friends are happy, often running themself ragged to keep everyone cheerful.

Formwise, a rounder, shorter version of young Skids with a visor and probably purple from the influences of Skids’ blue and Swerve’s red. Chubby and soft with a round face and a tooth gap. Because reasons.

14. Random headcanon(s)?

Both of them too. Skids mostly, just a gentle laugh because he’s enjoying himself
