Sorry DE, you cant keep me in bounds
But i mean... holy shit. its beautiful. this has to be one of, if not my #1 favourite updates for environmental design.
i love the bichromatic lights and the ruins, even if in gameplay, it makes things difficult.
skyboxes on this one are interesting. a lot of rooms have their own skybox. most of the rooms dont have skyboxes or just have lights. but the ones that exist all seem to be right next to the rooms that use them, which is convenient for me.
Suda's skybox. i believe this is the regular void skybox. maybe darker.
Teshin's skybox.
New loka's room might be my favourite. the greenery fighting off the ink just does it for me. Same with simaris's room, though i wonder who left their big ass footprints on the floor.
Simaris's room appears to use life support capsules in the walls.
The reflection imageon the ink is interesting, i wonder where its from. i dont recognize it from soulframe.
Do you have the skyboxes for the holiday splatfests (Splatoween, FrostyFest, SpringFest, Summer Nights, etc)? Thank you!
Frostyfest doesn't appear to have its own skybox, however here's in order: Springfest, Summer Nights, Splatoween, Grand Festival
These are in originally in a format which stores values in floats (like exr) so pngs can't really do it well, i'll maybe upload them in exr format to google drive or something

People keep talking about the moon being bigger or brighter in the lead up to Endwalker, but I’m not sure if that’s the case or wishful thinking, given what little we know of EW, and how the combatants all looked up as the moon broke through to shine down on the fields of Carteneau at the end of 5.55, “Death Unto Dawn.”
These images are taken in the Churning Mists, near Moghome. Skies are Clear/Fair. Time, location, and weather can change a lot, so I tried to keep things close.
C’oretta has not started 5.3 yet. The top set is PunchyCat at about 11:20-11:30ish Eorzea time. First (top left) image is my usual Gshade gameplay filter, the second (top right) is with my Gshade overlay turned off.
Aeryn of course is entirely current on MSQ. Second set is rushing back to the Churning Mists on Aeryn, just after Midnight Eorzea time, same/similar weather, and same deal with the Gshade filters; first image (bottom left) is on, second (bottom) is off.
If there is a difference in the moon’s presentation, it’s across the board and unaffected by MSQ progress--which is not generally how that works, but the moon is also part of the skyboxes, which would work differently from most objects. Unless they changed out every skybox on the Source? Which seems unlikely, but I’m also not sure how they arranged things in 1.0.
Also would they really repeat the 1.0 ending like that? There’s nothing about the story this time to indicate the actual moon’s coming down/closer, or even actually reflecting/generating more light, we just know there’s some sort of focus there concerning Zodiark.
So I am holding judgment until the devs say “yes clever catch we did change some things in the sky!” or we get actual story in Endwalker, so close now; a lot of this feels like jumping the gun cuz we’re so eager for what’s coming next and the wait’s been a long one.
I love the Dawn skybox so much.
