Thank you for the ask, and sorry for late reply! I needed computer access, plus this takes a lot more thought than I realized haha.

Pros: Their personalities really balance each other out. Like, Makoto is really grounded, while Rin is a romantic. Or how Makoto is kind of reserved in his actions, while Rin pretty much goes all out when he’s passionate about something. And I love how Makoto is the only one from Iwatobi who Rin actually respects as an equal. Not just as a rival for swimming, but as a person. There are so many instances when Rin is exasperated by Nagisa and Rei, but when Makoto comes into the picture, there’s a complete change in the way Rin speaks. Makoto was even able to convince Rin that Haru turned into a mackerel, and Rin got irked at the fact that Makoto didn’t call him back after to check back with him haha. Another reason why I love this ship so much is the potential fluff. Like that drama CD track about them and the black cat. Oh my gosh, just slay me dead why don’t you? Rin is a total tsun, and Makoto is such a tease- ashaljksdgadkdalgdsjfalksd. Everyone should do themselves a favor and listen to that track. Like right now. Oh. And they also support each other really well. Rin was the one who taught Makoto backstroke when Makoto was too scared to swim any other stroke, plus he was worried about Makoto during the whole training camp fiasco during high school. As for Makoto, he was the first one to reach out to Rin, both in elementary school, and when Rin came back from Australia. Then again, Makoto is just a big sweetheart in general.

Cons: They don’t interact much to even list any cons. ;-; Like, in the first High Speed, you can really tell how close the two of them are, but with the anime, they mainly have those blink-and-you’ll-miss-it interactions. I guess you can say that they could have a pretty bad fallout I guess, but hnng... Makoto would be ready to welcome Rin back with open arms, and Rin has such a huge soft spot for Makoto that they wouldn’t stay apart for long anyway. I didn’t hit everything, but my thoughts are unorganized as it is, so yeah. That’s enough for now. I might give myself a heart condition or something haha. Anyway, these are my thoughts on MakoRin. (:

The character I first fell in love with: Haru. I have a thing for cool, calm, and collected guys. And those with blue eyes and black hair.

The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Holy shiz Makoto Tachibana. I love him even more than freaking Haru, I mean this boy is my baby and for him I will forgo all logic (cuz, you know, he’s just a fictional character) and protect him with my life.

The character everyone else loves that I don’t: I don’t really dislike any of the characters to be honest. However, I did have an issue with Rin in the first season. Like please stop being so snappish. I know you’re hurting, but don’t lash out and be so explosive about it ;-;

The character I love that everyone else hates: Um. is there a character that everyone hates in this fandom? I know that a lot of characters get under appreciated. Like Gou, Nagisa, Rei, and Nitori.

The character I used to love but don’t any longer: Don’t have one tbh. It’s mainly the opposite of this question. Like, I didn’t use to like Sousuke and now I just wanna give the poor kid a hug and be his GPS when he gets lost.

The character I would totally smooch: None because I, personally, don’t like the idea of kissing.

The character I’d want to be like: It’s a mix of Haru and Makoto to be honest. Haru because he stays true to himself (until KyoAni caved into the crazy fans’ demands and just butchered his character), and Makoto for just everything. He’s basically the person I wish I could be.

The character I’d slap: As in slap some sense into? Definitely Haru. Like I said, I’m pretty disappointed regarding what KyoAni did to his character. In my honest opinion, they ruined it by taking away what made Haru so appealing in the first place. The fact that despite being so talented, he didn’t care about his times. He just enjoyed swimming in general. Feeling the water and what have not. Now’s he’s just Rin 2.0 or whatever.

A pairing that I love: Hah. What kind of question is that? Makoharu all the way. Although, Makorin has a piece of my heart. Reigisa, too, cuz shit never happens in their fandom and oh how I envy them.

A pairing that I don’t: Rh and Sh. And Sm even though I used to ship it. In other words, anything that isn’t Makoharu with the exception to Makorin because oh my gosh that ship is even more perfect than Makoharu in some aspects.

Makoharu is canon and beautiful and i'm so happy and also SouRIn and ReiGisa but i thought they weren't going to resolve the MakoHaru fight and they did and now they're together forever in tokyo i am so happy this is me flooding your inbox hi i love you

I love you too, and I’m soooo relieved Makoto and Haru made up officially in a scene, that was so important to me and I was sooo scared it wasn’t going to happen. But it did, and it was so in-character and necessary and beautiful. And I liked how it took Haru time to say it, to find a moment, but that is bothered him and he had to say it. 

And he was so genuinely ashamed of how he behaved and admitted it was “awful” and it just was so sincere and perfect. 

Makoto probably didn’t expect it, either, which makes him need it even more. He needs to know he is worth being treated well. That Haru thinks so. 

And yes, they moved on from this and now are still together! Somehow this was resolved beautifully and “do whatever you want” turned into this!
