But then Billy Hargrove came to town, and things went to hell. Both at school and at home. Because of course, of course they were neighbors now. And of course the blonde was just as mean as he was gorgeous. Completely unapproachable unless you had a big rack and ass.
Well, maybe he was missing the first but Eddie had a nice ass, objectively speaking. And it can handle a lot more than people think.
The first three raps at his front door went unanswered, because he was too high and too preoccupied thinking about how hard he’d let Hargrove handle his ass if anything ever did happen outside of their 30 second interaction today.
The next two are harder and have their intended startling effect. Eddie’s gasp is embarrassingly loud because he’s high , so he’s paranoid its the fucking cops. But then, someone is saying his name through fiberglass paneling, honey-thick and syrup-sweet and his tongue dries in his mouth.
“Come on Munson, I know you’re in there. I can smell you,” he chuckles and when the fuck has Billy Hargrove ever laughed when it wasn’t at someone’s expense??
He shoots up faster than he should have and squeaked out a weak “yeah,” before clearing his throat loudly. He was pretty obviously hard so he tucked himself under his belt before stumbling across the floor he was supposed to clean yesterday.
“OKAY!” he said, a little bit louder, a little bit strained, because he really didn’t know what to say right now. He sure as hell didn’t bank on Hargrove making a fucking house call. He had to shake out his hands a few times in a desperate attempt to steady them before opening the door.
He nearly died on the spot. Because Hargrove is practically shirtless , in a deep maroon long sleeved button down that he was 1000% not wearing earlier. Over that he had on the faded, tan, leather jacket he’s only seen him wear at parties and blue jeans so tight they might as well be painted on. He was dressed up like he was going on a date , and not to surprise visit Eddie ‘the freak’ Munson. To top it all off, Hargrove’s got this smile on his face that pulled something that felt eerily like realization deep from inside his soul. He was more terrified of whatever that was than if Billy suddenly threatened him with his fists. Hargrove watched all of Eddie’s panics comfortably from his casually propped place against his trailer, licking the front of his teeth pointedly before asking a little too sweetly, to come inside.
Crossdressing is the character's choice. Not because they are forced into it, asked by somebody else or because they are trying to spice things up in a relationship.
Light short reads. Three fics are intense. I marked them!
Intro friendly. No mpreg, A/B/O, noncon, dubcon, forced feminization, slavery, humiliation. But there's a lot of fics on AO3 for those if you wanted to go looking!
Some fics are 100% about crossdressing. Some fics also have other plot parts.

I love this fic. It just has that right balance of eerie and feel good. There's something eerie about Severus watching the club from his fire escape. Like life's left him behind. Maybe he's left life behind? There's a lot going on here. A lot of surreal vivid imagery.
That night, he sits on the fire escape and watches the other side of the street again. The sun has gone behind the buildings, but the metal stairs are still warm, browned with paint and the sun’s tan.
Harry is clumsy with his crossdressing at the beginning. He gets experienced quickly and becomes really comfortable. Like most of the fics here we don't get to see why he is crossdressing. It's his choice. We are left to guess.
Post war. Really beautiful and layered writing. Not a word out of place! Pretty laid back and easy going compared to many of the author's fics. But amazingly vivid! Some of the imagery has stuck with me for years! Happy ending!

Severus is living as a Muggle. He wears little black dresses with a ton of confidence. Remus is attracted by his confidence. Sweet and hot shortfic with a happy ending.
Completely unsurprised to see a fic from schemingreader on this list! Their fics are well-written and kinky in the best possible ways. The character voices are great. Emotions sneak in at the right times! This fic has a Remus in Florida living on a boat. He got out of Britain after the war. He meets Snape who is working as a consultant for a Muggle environmental job. He meets Snape at a bar when Snape's wearing a dress.
I am a complete sucker for Snape surviving miraculously and living his best life.
Remus kicked the sand. It wasn't bad enough to be a gay werewolf. He had to fall for a cross-dressing former Death Eater. He hoped that if Snape planned to kill him, he would at least kiss him one more time.
Refraction

Pairing - Severus/Draco
Length - 3000 words
Genre - established relationship, happy ending, light read
Short and sweet fic. Draco is vain. Of course he is vain. He wears dresses, thinks about mirrors and gives Severus a really good time.
Scorpius wears Narcissa's dresses. He's totally confident about it. Albus Severus is with him. But he's not comfortable with Scorpius crossdressing. It takes a chat with Harry for Albus Severus to finally accept Scorpius as he is. I really liked Harry in this fic.
Scorpius throws his head back when he laughs, when he's amused. He is now. “Oh, Potter, you're in so much trouble,” he says, he reaches out and cups Albus' jaw gently, before he squeezes until it nearly hurts, but that's okay too. Scorpius is made up of more edges and sharp things than Albus will ever be able to count.
Rec note - Scorpius crossdresses in only Narcissa's dresses. It's such an interesting detail. Most of the fics on the list don't really explain why the MC is crossdressing. This makes me really invested as a reader and keeps me guessing after reading the fic.
Underneath His Skirt

Pairing - Lucius/Pansy. Not really a pairing though. It's gen and Lucius centric.
This fic can be YMMV. Personally I really liked Lucius here. He tries on Pansy's school uniform. Pansy finds out. But she's supportive. She teaches Lucius how to enjoy the experience. She's in a relationship with Draco. So what happens between Lucius and Pansy can be squicky for many readers. I am including the fic because I honestly think it's unique and interesting.
“I don't know why men seem to fixate on the idea of schoolgirls,” she said softly. “They think that we are all these innocent flowers, unaware that we are ripe for plucking. But we are aware, Mister Malfoy,” she whispered, her voice a low, seductive purr that made him dizzy. “We know the power that we hold.”
A really beautiful fic. Millicent goes to a bar called Dyketopia in Amsterdam. Wilhemina runs into her there. Will knows a baby butch when she sees one. She mentors Millicent and helps her get comfortable. Will buys Millie her first men's style clothes and asks her to pay it forward.
"Not sure what that even means, to tell you the truth -- to 'feel like a man' or 'feel like a woman.' I just feel like myself, a person who likes men, gets along with 'em, understands 'em, likes to wear their comfy clothes. And I also feel like a person who likes women, gets along with 'em, feels comfortable with 'em. . .and wants to sleep with 'em. But it can unsettle other people, if you're not obviously one sex or the other."
Rec note - Women crossdressing is a fuzzy concept now. But like anything femslash and female centric, kelly_chambliss has a great take on this. We need more fics like this! But we don't really get them a lot in our fandom. Maybe it's just my reading bias.
Reason for selection - A deeply poignant and introspective fic. Snape in Spinner's End after the war. He wears dresses sometimes.
The fic strikes a good balance between his introspection and learning to accept who he is. The characterization for him is incredible and vivid. He is avoiding magic after the war. He's a bit of an unreliable narrator. But it's not because of lack of self-awareness. More because he backs off from thinking about things. A lot of beautiful introspective parts about his parents.
Harry is really sweet and perceptive here. But this is really a Severus centric fic. It digs deep into his character. Absolutely brilliant work.
If you love James Baldwin and Giovanni's Room, this is the fic for you. I actually read the book after reading this fic and really liked it.
If Severus spends unusually large amounts of time in other people's worlds during those in-between days there is at least no-one to comment on it, to try and worm reasons out of him. If he tries to keep his head full of spite or spends time picking at the logic of fictional systems of desire it is his own damn business.
Rec note - A pretty intense Snape characterization and strong emotional connect. So definitely don't expect it to be an easy read. Probably the most introspective fic on this list. This is one of the rare shipping fics where the shipping takes a complete backseat to the characterization. There are so many ways this fic could have messed up. I can only imagine how hard it was to write it!
Reason for selection - In a completely weird and brilliant combination, this fic blends Fantasy, Greek Mythology and Science Fiction. The magical realism is just beautiful. The vibe is Pan's Labryinth meets Interstellar. Lots of magic and whimsy with crossdressing.
A depressed and alcoholic Harry is under house arrest at Grimmauld Place with just Walburga's portrait for company. He starts wearing Walburga's clothes. Time is broken because of Voldemort. They need a hero to fix Time. Harry is that hero in a dress.
The antique mirror that was set in the wall across him showed a pale, young man, cheeks flushed with wine, bearded and long-haired, untouched by sunlight. Gleaming skin against the soft blue and gold of the bodice marred only by the brownness of a lone nipple. This was Harry. He found himself oddly contented by the sight.
Layered and packed with emotional connect. Harry is trapped in Grimmauld Place like Sirius. Voldemort is trapped by Amorentia like his father. It's got a switchback style, cycling between intense parts and laid back parts. Tightly controlled writing. Angst and sacrifice with a hopeful ending. It finally got me to read Silmarillion.
Rec note - This is one of my all time favorite Harry characterizations. The imagery of him is so vivid. I loved him confidently saving the world with his physics theories wearing Walburga's clothes. Honestly this fic should not work on any level. But it's absolutely weird and amazing.

Genre - Friends to lovers, self-discovery, happy ending, light read
Severus wears dresses sometimes. When he feels like it. The fic is set in London. Severus and Harry both have work going on in the Muggle side and the Wizarding side. They meet through Luna. I especially loved Severus and Harry building their friendship, the queer nightclub scene in London they are both part of. Severus is totally at peace with himself. But I felt the writing choices make sense in the context of the fic.
Rec note - It's got the healthiest relationship in this list! They are both in a really good headspace when they are getting into the relationship. Fanfiction isn't the place to get a relationship education. But if you really wanted to do that, this fic meets the bar :) A great fic to end our list with!

A-Z recs for unforgettable, delicious, intense reads
I used to enjoy reading slash fics and R#34, etc., but I never worried/cared about finding a girlfriend... I mean, ever. The fiction was... abstract? Or, conceptual? Sort of? I never *wanted* any of the things I would read about, I just sort of... "enjoyed" "putting myself" in the scenario, like, vicariously. Does that sound a-spec.? (I don't read slash these days, still not in a hurry to find a GF or anything). Kinda having trouble rationalizing it, know anything that might help me here? -thx
Hi there, anon. :) You’re not alone in that. I think many people read or enjoy such fics etc., no matter their sexuality. It makes sense what you’re saying. As an ace that also enjoys slash fics….yup. You don’t really need to rationalize it! The main thing with being asexual, though, comes down to sexual attraction. Do you feel sexually attracted to people? When you say you aren’t in a hurry to find a girlfriend, do you mean that in a romantic sense or sexual? Because if you aren’t interested in people (of any gender) romantically, you might be aromantic.
Forgive me if I’m rambling a bit, but it’s hard to say yes you’re definitely a-spec or no you’re not, just based on what you said. So I suggest exploring more and doing more research. See what feels right. :) But I will say that you could be ace and read fics, ero, and enjoy it but not actually desire to be in any of those situations.
