MY thoughts on Glorious Rivals.
Spoilers ahead!
Okay, I'm going to start of with how even though it was good, JLB could have done better. I'm really getting tired of not getting straight answers. It's been over 2 years.
Secondly, I might discuss the Jameson issue. I don't hate Jameson. Was I annoyed at how he was acting? Yes. But do I get it now? also yes. But Grayson wasn't so innocent either. I understand he was frustrated and wanted answers. But he DIDN'T respect Jameson's wishes either. He asked Grayson to leave it alone and let them handle it. But what does he do? The opposite. I appreciate him trying to get answers for Lyra but practically bullying Jameson to give him the answers isn't ok. The main issue is no one is communicating which is leading to huge blow outs. Can I also say, Jameson grew up in a very repressed household when it came to their emotions. Tobias made them LITERALLY fight each other sometimes as a way to get their anger out. It isn't healthy and it's the only way Jameson knew how. He isn't in therapy like Grayson is. He should be, but he isn't.
Now to Lyra. Everyone is like "She's so innocent." Excuse me? She the one who asked Eve the questions about Alice! Out of any questions she could have asked, she asked that. Yes, did she know Eve would tell the watcher? No. But if remember correctly Grayson said to keep it quiet. Well, that isn't quiet.
Now, before you tear me apart, I do admire Lyra refusing to take the bait from Eve. And I do think she is a very strong young woman. But I will come back to her later.
Now to Eve. I do think she had potential to become a great villain, but I like the direction she is going, and I think she could become good. We know she wants to hurt Grayson, but doesn't any girl want to hurt the person who rejected them? It's natural. She shouldn't use Lyra as the way, but it makes sense if you think about it. And if she really wanted to hurt Grayson, she could have done so through Gigi. But she didn't. She was quite a badass stepping up to the Watcher. and I think she might help them take down this cult or whatever it is. My take on Eve is she's a very hurt person and wants others to feel it. But she isn't naturally bad. She just wants to be loved.
Now to Avery's kidnapping. Um, isn't it Oren's fault?! He is her bodyguard and is supposed to be with her at ALL times. That being said, we also know Avery likes disappearing on him when she isn't supposed to. I think everyone is at fault in some ways.
Now to Gigi, I love her optimism in danger. She also isn't afraid of the Watcher and is willing to risk her life for Slatter. Also her and Eve? Both were awesome and I can see both becoming good freinds.
Now to Grayson and Lyra. Despite everything I said about them, I do love them very much. They were made and complement each other. Grayson is growing and we see he really wants to change. Which I appreciate. Also, he does love Jameson. But he also loves Lyra. And I think he doesn't know what to do since his family isn't very accepting right now. I love that Lyra still stayed with him, even after she found his secret. It shows she loves him too.
