PC Mag - November 1999
Wow, I just have a thing I guess for science fantasy reinterpretations of The Count of Monte Cristo with world building and or magic systems explicitly drawing from East Asian mythology, folklore, and mysticism.
You would think that this is a very niche hyperspecific form of story, but I have so many examples.........
Annon-Guy: You a fan of Gungrave? I noticed your icon is Beyond The Grave.
I own, played and beaten G.O.R.E. (not the Ultimate Enhanced Edition on Switch)
I played and beaten the first game through an emulator and played a bit of Overdose on an emulator.
The only game I haven't played is VR.
Yes it is! I'm glad you noticed! Gungrave is awesome! It's like my personal favorite character action game besides like No More Heroes or Slave Zero X
If you like biopunk, biomechanical monster designs, 90s cyberpunk, living power armors, mecha anime, beat'em up and hack & slash games, Guyver, Kamen Rider Black and Shin, Genocyber, the Cell saga, Neon Genesis Evangelion and all related goodness...
...then please consider giving the game Slave Zero X a try.
It's a prequel to the obscure 90s mecha game Slave Zero. It's on Steam and GOG.
" Stunning gameplay, stunning graphics... Everyone's a winner! " Dreamcast Monthly Magazine n05 - February, 2000.
