And here is the really interesting part, as I promised! It took several months, but I don’t plan to stop at the Major Arcana, and I want to draw the entire deck 😎 Some cards still need to be finished and framed, so I’ll upload them as they’re ready.

Allll the Slayers major arcana.

I didn’t mean to do this. I had tarot on the brain from the Drawfee episode where they draw themselves as tarot cards and I was also working on prompts for Slayers Artober so I thought it’d be cool to do the Slayers characters as tarot cards. My next thought was: “No. That sounds like it would be a massive pain.” My third thought was: “Fine. I’ll just do Lina. I haven’t gotten to her artober yet so I can get this out of my system.” My fourth thought was: “...Well, I want to do Gourry too.” My fifth thought was: “Well now I’m pot-committed to doing them all.”

I probably should’ve stopped at my first thought since, even with the simplified art style this was very time consuming! But it’s done now!

I’ve finally read the manga Aqualord, so Cups 6, 3, 2 (as well as Vaalwin) are from there. 🐟

In the meantime, I’m getting back to work on the comic — it’s time for Chapter 3!

Finally! It turned out there was so much post‑processing involved, and I got stuck with them much longer than I’d planned 🫠 But the main thing is that the first half is done!

I wanted the Cups represent the Shinzoku and everyone somehow connected to them (even if very loosely). I wanted to reflect the full diversity of the Slayers characters in the Tarot, but in that case it’s impossibly hard to distribute them so that they fit the cards perfectly.

Notes:

I like Milgazia’s outfit from the novels much better 😁

I couldn’t find a colour image of Vaalwin (it might not even exist), so I decided he’d be green because of his palm‑tree pipe 🌴
