In Greek myth —or in Saint Seiya, which honestly counts— there were two brothers: Hypnos and Thanatos. Sleep and Death.
Let’s stay with the first one.
People often seek hypnosis because they can’t sleep. But that raises a strange question: can hypnosis become sleep?
Somewhere between wakefulness and dreaming, the brain hums in a different rhythm — not quite alpha, not quite delta — a secret melody between worlds.
You’ve heard that voice before, haven’t you? Soft, rhythmic, almost too gentle. “You’re feeling tired… so tired.” And suddenly, your body answers.
Eyelids fall. Breath deepens. Awareness drifts.
And there it is — that moment every hypnotist waits for — the sigh of surrender.
You’ve fallen into Hypnos.
Maybe that’s enough. Not every trance needs a purpose. Sometimes the kindest thing you can do is let the mind rest, and dream what cannot be spoken while awake.

Sleep Mode
This is a rough draft for an induction. It uses metaphors of treating your mind as a computer with browsers and tabs, and so on. It is relatively simple and was made offhandedly to put my subject to sleep. I winged it and plan to come back to this and the concept more from different angles. In case it isn't obvious, the purpose of this is to put you to sleep.
Get comfortable, lay back in your chair or in your bed
If you feel the need to adjust, do so, it wont wake you up
In fact, any adjustments you make help you feel even more relaxed and receptive
Because it is you listening to your body, and not you making any conscious decisions past getting more comfortable

Take a deep breath in....
and a deep breath out
good, feel your chest rise
your shoulders fall
the tension slowly melting away
What we are going to do now, is go through your mind, and turn the lights off
like when it is time to go to bed, you walk through your house, and turn each light off
Breathe in
Breathe out
Good
If we were to walk thought the halls of your mind, we would turn each light off with every breath in
and out
Until it is completely dark
And every switch off, silences that part of your mind
puts it to sleep
turns it off
until it gets completely quiet in your mind and you are in the dark
peaceful, calming, quiet
I want you to envision though, that you are at your computer, which should be easy
this is easy.
And what you will do now, is close each tab
one by one
and when they are closed they are silenced.
If you really need one, you can always open it back up and do what you need. If there is an emergency, you can wake up, but
There isn't any emergency right now
you can keep relaxing and follow along
Begin by clearing up those old videos and recipes from when you needed them, those fics and random searches you might've made during your day
close them.
Close your browsers and other applications, games and music, your calendar or notes where you wrote down your plans for tomorrow
close them.
and when they are closed, they are silenced, and you find that closing them makes your computer run smoother,
it is easier to move to the next thing
it is easy and it feels good
once, you have closed all of your applications, you'll be at your desktop with your lovely wallpaper you chose
I wonder if it is a spiral, one you found particularly captivating
And you have that feeling of relief. like it has been so long since you seen it and you are so happy you get to see it again
You can enjoy this peace and ease for as long as you wish, you are comfortable and everything else is dark except your screen
illuminating, the only thing you can see now
And my words and the sensations you feel because of them are all that's left

Your cursor moves over to the corner and clicks open a small window
It clicks Sleep and a small pop up appears at the center your screen
On it, it asks you to confirm
If you confirm, you will Drop and Sleep now
If you do not confirm because you are too relaxed
too at peace
and have completely given up the ability to make the decision for yourself
there is a timer, which has been counting down
and you are watching it count down
and you can't move your eyes away from the numbers
And you find that every number makes your eyes flutter and roll
when you blink and look again, the number have dropped more

-Uh uhh. You're still confused. But don't worry, that happens sometimes.
-I'm not! What are you talking about?
-You forgot again, didn't you? That's alright. I didn't expect you to remember that you wanted this.
-You make no sense! I wanted this?
-Of course you did, silly.
-That can't... I wouldn't...
-Oh, sweetie. You would and you have. How else would I have gotten you here?
-But I... I was... What was I saying?
-You forgot again, didn't you?
-No! No, I just...
-Silly sleepyhead.
-Uhhh! What...?
-That's right. Such a silly sleepy head trying to hold such silly sleepy thoughts.

-Uhhh... Did it? You... Your hands…
-Silly sleepy dummy. They are just doing what they should! Making sure to keep your attention. Can't have you drifting back and forth after all. Steadily back... And forth.
-Sleepy... But umm.... Why back and.... Uhh?
-Because that makes you drowsy, sleepyhead.
-Drowsy...
-And being drowsy makes you silly, doesn't it?
-Hehe... Silly sleepyhead...
-And being silly and drowsy makes it harder to think, doesn't it?
-...Think?
-Aww, that drowsy brain forgot again.
-Drowsy... Forgot?
-Of course it did. That head is far too tired to think. So that must have been a dream. Just a silly dream in a sleepy mind.
-Hmmm... So sleepy...
-Of course you are. Because this is no time for being awake. Not when you can be so close, so very close to figuring out why this feels so good.
-Feels... Good!
-Of course it does. It feels good to sleep when you're told.
-Sleep when... Uh... But... Sleepy thought that…
-No, you didn't. Silly drowsy sleepyhead. You don't think.
-Umm... Izzat so?
-Of course it is. That's why that heavy, fuzzy head has trouble with words. Because you're having that dream again. The one where you stumble back... And forth... And right onto this fluffy bed for me. Exactly like that.
-Fluffy...!
-So that you can remember to forget about such silly things like thinking. After all, the bed is right here. No need to get up. It's a real no-brainer. Just letting go and relaxing. You can do that for me, right?
-Riiight...
-Great to hear that we agree on something. So just lean back and enjoy. You're in good hands after all. That was why you asked me to keep you so sleepy, wasn't it?
-Uhhh... Was it?
-Naturally. That silly little sleepyhead forgot, of course.
-Hehehe... Silly sleepyhead...!
-Lucky you. That's perfectly fine. Since this way you get to relax and sleep so deep that even my rambling slips right past your notice. It's fine to sleep and forget for a while longer, right?
-Fiiiiine...
-And how much longer? Oh, don't you worry your cute head about that! I'll tell you when it's time to get back from dreamland. So just listen and do as my voice says, alright?

Hypnotise Yourself to Sleep
Many people struggle to get to sleep every night, and whilst this isn't going to be a remedy for everyone it may help some. I've attempted this myself and it's worked really well. Hypnosis is something that some are skeptical about, however after seeing my father (a man who is quick to call out something as BS) being hypnotised, I knew it was 100% real. The following psychological trick is a basic hypnosis that can help you sleep better.
The Technique
1. Make sure you're in a comfortable position where you plan on sleeping.
2. Close your eyes and feel how heavy your eyelids are. Even consciously think 'my eyelids are heavy' a few times
3. Think consciously 'my mind is tired'
4. Focus on three deep breaths
5. Repeat the process of 'my eyes are heavy. My mind is tired' and focusing on the breaths until your breathing naturally becomes lighter and you can't continue with these thoughts
Whilst this would constitute more basic psychology rather than magic, I so genuinely hope it helps someone. Manifest a better sleeping pattern! You are worthy or rest!
