So me n @shadesofvioletvoid made an HC superhero AU a bit ago, and I've been meaning to design some of the costumes. So I drew probably the least morally corrupt of the like main villain quartet at the start of the AU.

I immediately had one single thought about the superhero au and. only the one.

does. does bdubs ever have to chase etho away so his shadows don't interfere with his lil plant bois' growth? do the shadows affect bdubs in that way too?? I can't imagine shade-e-e would be good to have around for photosynthesis, so. does he. does he have to etho-proof things?????

Okay Anon this is not the first ask I expected to see when I posted the superhero AU, but this is absolutely hilarious. It also allows me a chance to discuss the powers, as well as share the doodle dump I did of them

So Etho doesn't actually create shadows. He can bend already existing shadows, can travel through shadows, and can temporarily control the shadow of another person. So he could theoretically move shadows near Bdubs' plants and stuff to mess with him(see the top left doodle of the dump).

As for Bdubs needing to Etho-proof things, it's kind of difficult to. Considering Etho can move shadows from any corner of a room he's in. And since light creates shadows, it is very irritating to try and get proper photosynthesis done when Etho is around.  

Bdubs doesn't need to constantly be in sunlight, it's only a recharge kind of deal. When he's tired or drained he just has to lay down in the sun. While he does this he has little sprouts and vines grow around his body. He can make bigger vines, though, which he tends to use during actual attacks. 

So is Etho bad for Bdubs' plants? Yeah he is, but he never actually hurts them, he just makes it seem like he's gonna. He respects Bdubs enough not to interrupt his photosynthesis time.
