Things that made me smile today. Seeing @tim8206 doing so well just 4 days after shoulder surgery, old cars that made me think of him and all my pumpkins and beautiful mum!! It’s just been a good day!!!!

Out today for a water borne adventure, where an upper Thames tributary had burst it's banks and overtopped the nearby road. Who's got good eyesight then? This is a section of old growth pine from the roof of an Oxford college building, built in 1911. I've sanded it to 360 grit and got busy with a magnifying glass and a pin in an endeavour to count the growth rings, of which I believe there are at least 360 (surely a coincidence) in just 10cm (4") of timber!! In terms of growth rings this might be the oldest sample in my collection.
