Jaskier is a polyglot; being able to learn a lot of languages does help with being a travelling Bard.

Earlier on, Geralt, whenever he was annoyed at Jaskier, would try and curse Jaskier out in a dead language.

Except come every spring after spending the winter apart. Jaskier would now know how to speak whatever language Geralt was speaking before.

I've always thought as Jaskier from The Witcher to be smart but doesn't show it cause he grew up knowing that if you show it that you will have more expectations and therefore more attention from his father which he really didn't want.

So I always liked to think that he was pretending to sleep with loads of women when really he was making a network to help out his witcher. (Some of them most likely were one night stands, but I think the mass majority would be for his network), which helps him later on with being the Sandpiper. Personal I have a concept fic on its way for this, though it needs more plotting and more research.

But I always loved smart/competent Jaskier cause the guy has a long list of majors of the 7 Liberal arts. He's not stupid. He just doesn't show it.

Summary: Geralt had known Jaskier studied at Oxenfurt University, but he had thought of it as a sort of formal music education. It was becoming abundantly clear that while he had indeed studied music and composition, he also knew a lot more than Geralt had ever learned. And it was impressive. And humbling, too.

Some Thoughts: This is probably my favorite fanfic in the fandom, even though it is like 95% info dump, it’s just so well-written and I love the fact that the author acknowledges that Jaskier is probably pretty smart. It’s such a different take from the usual Jaskier is just a dumb dumb bard following Geralt around and sticking his dick in places that don’t belong, but it’s that but more in this fanfic. It’s such a different dynamic and I’m so happy it exists. It’s so precious! It’s also so informational, like the author really knows what they’re talking about, and I’m so happy that this fanfic exists, but I’m also so mad that it only has about 1700 kudos? I really had to dig. I was in page 20 or something of fine combing the Witcher archive when I stumbled upon this wonderful fanfic.

To be honest though, you really feel for Geralt. Like you’re placed in his point of view, so you get his struggle of “I understand you, but I also don’t understand you. Also this is kinda hot.” Like that’s basically the fic multiplied by seven, and it’s fucking amazing. I rest my case. Please read the fic. AHAHAHAHAH
