Smithy! I made him from scratch! I’m so proud of this one~
no pattern! I made it all freehand! I’ll turn my notes into a pattern eventually, but it might take a while, lol.
the hands were a dang ADVENTURE. They’re so big and so angular! I had to make several versions of all of their component parts (including the hammer) until i was happy with how the sizes all worked.
he’s pretty big and hefty! He’s roughly 8-9 inches tall (20-22 cm). I used size 4/medium yarn and a size F/3.75 mm hook.
shout out to @suppermariobroth for kindly getting me a reference image of the back of Smithy’s head so I could make his hair properly!
Whew, i started this back in november back before the remake came out. but life got in the way n i couldn't finish it.
I love how mario rpgs can have a total tone shift right at the end without it feeling like...out of place?? And the Smithy final boss is a great example. It left me with so many questions.
Anyway does smithy remind anyone else of the air conditioner from brave little toaster or am i just insane.
