Build update on The Queen - ALIENS - 1:18 scale. Casts using Smooth-On Smooth Cast 320 resin. So after my debacle with the two part mold, happy to report that the castings so far have come out quite well!!! Clean as a whistle! A little hiccup on the hod but easily fixed. Made two so far, will make another two (possibly using some pigment) and continue on with the project. Gotta place it on hold though while I prepare to paint the newborn head for Jean-Pierre Jeunet!!! Want to get that completed over the weekend. Casting tests of recent molds made from the Alien: Resurrection Newborn head sculpt/jaw and the Alien: Defiance Praetorian Xenormorph head, jaw, torso and abdomen. 1:18 scale works in progress. Casting material is Smooth-On's Smooth Cast 320 - Off white resin. So far I have pulled three of each piece with no air bubbles or gaps in the pour. Oof. I cast a whole lot of pieces (and still forgot a few like an idiot), had to throw out and redo almost two dozen pieces because my chemicals were old and crunchy, and somehow managed to coat my toe in plastic? How did I get plastic on my toes?!
