I'm pretty sure my stomach just growled "I will destroy everything you love"
That smoothie might have had too many berries in it.

Day 1
Adding wheatgrass to my smoothie was a horrible mistake. I feel like I'm drinking grass clippings. I need to make Day 2's better.
Smoothie Fail: Peach-Macadamia
I wanted to add some peanut butter to today's smoothie, but the fruit that needed eating was a peach, so I decided macadamia would be a better match (I would have gone with pecans or walnuts had I had those, or maybe almonds...). The macadamias I have are salted, but they supposedly only have 3% of the daily limit for sodium in a quarter cup, so I decided to rinse all the salt off. Unfortunately, I think they were soaked in brine, because some of the nutty parts of the smoothie are kind of salty. Thankfully the ice helps mask a lot of that (before I added it, it was undrinkable), but even the less salty part has an... unusual flavor. Not bad, but not really good, either.
Adding peach-macadamia to the never-try-again list (which before had one lonely member: sweet potatoes). I can tell that peach would make an excellent smoothie by itself. And the macadamias would work in other combinations, I think (obviously unsalted, though)... just not together with peach.
I made a fruit smoothie.
And as I added the fruit, it started to get too big for my blender cup...so I poured some in a bowl. Then when I finished blending up all the fruit I had cut up, I put all of it in a bowl. It was weird to me, eating a smoothie out of a bowl, so I added oats.
Now I'm eating some strange kind of cold, oat-and-fruit soup.
Note to Self (and other smoothie lovers): if you're going make a smoothie with beet greens, be sure to remove the stems. Unless you like chewing on fibrous muck, or you have a Vitamix. Then you can do whatever you want.
Yesterday
I was just writing papers nonstop yesterday, so I never had time to post my foods.
Morning:
(Well I made a banana mango smoothie and tried adding some Starbucks caramel VIA to it for added caffeine, but it tasted awful!! One sip, and I threw it all out.)
Sprouted wheat fruit bar with vegan cream cheese and cinnamon-raisin-peanut butter (Peanut Butter & Co.)
Noon/Afternoon:
Vanilla Macaroon granola with walnuts, banana, mixed berries, raisins, and ground flaxseed in almond milk
Venti iced green tea (unsweetened)
Evening:
Grande soy caramel latte
strawberry coconut milk yogurt
Smoothie Fail
I know I post a lot about delicious smoothies, so I figured I'd share one of my failed recipes so that you do not attempt it.
Ingredients:
Fuji apple
Kale
Water
Consistency was thickly grassy, yet simultaneously watery. I'm beginning to think spinach is way better in a blender than kale is since I've had one too many mishaps with kale smoothies.
Oddly enough, I've touted my raw egg smoothie as being totally delicious (it is!) but it only contains two extra ingredients added to the above -- raw egg and flaxseeds. I guess raw egg really is the magic ingredient there.
Anyway, here's to learning from experimentation!
Space Cadet Extraordinaire..
So this is me at 2am, post workout about to make a delicious smoothie. Pull out magic bullet base. Place on counter. Look in cupboard for blade insert. Can't find it. Check other cupboards, check drawers.
Scratch head. Drag over chair to thoroughly search every inch of cupboards, pull out most contents (creating rather big mess of random items) check drawers again, pull out bottom drawers. Wake sleeping bf to ask if he's seen it or maybe broke and tossed it and forgot to tell me?
Nope. Walk back to kitchen and realize with total shock and awe the blade insert is nestled rather smugly in the base of magic bullet. It was there the whole time. Blush. Proceed to make delicious smoothie.
