5 Healthy Christmas Snacking Tips
5 Healthy Christmas Snacking Tips
1.christmas Cakes Cakes, pastries and muffins are the universal symbols for love and joy. You can't keep these sweets away from those big days like Christmas, New Year and so on. People just love to feast on them and the most popular among those are the muffins. These are small in size but their taste speaks volumes. 2.french fries Just about everyone loves eating french fries. They cause many dieters to break their resolve not to eat fatty foods. Baked fries, however, may be a way of still enjoying french fries while sticking to your diet. Cut these fries into half the size, add some salt and bake them on a single layer sheet for about half an hour. Use a spatula to loosen any caked-on fries, turn them over, then bake them for another half hour. They have far less calories and still taste great with ketchup. You will never notice the difference between baked and deep-fried. These fries are a terrific addition to anyone;s recipe box. For example, using witch hazel causes the blood vessels to shrink and contract. It's especially effective iced. Healthy Holidays
The binge of Thanksgiving is behind us, but what lies ahead is just as dangerous for health-conscious eaters. The holidays offer temptations of over-indulging in holiday favorites like warm apple pie, sugar cookies, and eggnog. Here's some tips to stay on track:
1.) Don't go hungry. Whether you're going to a party or shopping at the mall, make sure you have food in your stomach beforehand. You will be less inclined to cave at the Auntie-Anne's passing by or head straight to the snack table when you arrive at the party.
2.) Pay attention to portions. Most holidays include at least one "smorgasbord" meal. If you are pining to try every dish, take only a half-serving of each. Buffet style meals can easily spin out of control if you're not paying attention to how much you are eating.
3.) Hide the leftover smidgens. Don't leave the chocolates in plain sight where you can nonchalantly grab a handful on your way through the kitchen. Putting them in a more secluded area will be less convenient to intermittently snack on them. You may even forget they're there!
5 Tips on Healthy Snacking
Ever since I can remember, I have always had small meals throughout my day. I read in many articles that it's healthier to eat 5 -6 small meals a day opposed to 3 big meals. I usually pack my snacks from home, so I don't eat junk food. Recently I read this article that really got my interest. Usually I find articles on what to eat and the amounts, but this was about how to snack healthy. Below are 5 of the tips that I found most useful and thought everyone would benefit from: [caption id="attachment_220" align="alignright" width="148" caption="Healthy Snacking"][/caption]
Don't wait until you are starving. Set up snack times and plan what you are going to eat ahead of time. This will keep you from grabbing whatever is around and overeating.
Don't graze throughout the day. Pick times that you will eat. People who tend to graze consume more food because they are not able to keep track of their consumption.
100 Calories Snack Packs - Make them at home. I like to make wheat cracker and peanut butter sandwiches or mixed nuts.
Measure your snacks. It's a great idea to use a measure cup to ensure you are not overeating.
Eat fresh fruit opposed to drinking juice. Juice can have a lot of added sugar.
I love these tips, I know some of them are common sense but they are great reminders. For me, I have to eat every 3 hours or else I get moody and very tired. This means I definitely prep my snacks ahead of time, so I am not consuming unhealthy foods throughout my day. What is your favorite snack? Photo credit: Stock.xchng
