i loved your spider tips post, might you have any tips for a snail? (thanks sm if you do and no pressure)
Species affirmation tips for snail therians (teens with strict parents friendly)!
Brought to you by request from anon! :)
Clothing/Fashion:
Antennae headband/headphones for your eyestalks! It's really easy to diy too. If you want to keeps it subtle, use pipe cleaners to wrap them around your headband/headphones so you can take it off at any time.
Depending on which snail you are, you can very well include different patterns in your outfits! I suggest something with spots or those swirl shirts!
Assuming you're comfortable with it, wear skirts! If you take a close look, the flat bottom of a snail's body, when viewed from above, looks a tiny bit like a skirt!
Snails can stick to surfaces pretty well. You could get some shoes with a really good grip!
Yk what? I don't think I've ever seen a snail half-mask. That could look cool.
Shell:
Carry a backpack with you! It's your shell! If you don't like backpacks, a nice purse can do just fine. You might be able to find one with a swirl design to mimic your shell!
Collect shells, from snails or other animals, real or fake! Make sure to clean them if they're from outside!
A weighted blanket can give you the feeling of hiding in your shell!
( That's kind of all I have for shell tips :'c )
Diet:
Sounds obvious enough, but eat salads! I know that sounds SO boring, but think about it; how many salads have you actually tried? There's so much you can put in a salad. And if you don't like them for reasons other than taste (like different food touching, that's a sensory issue for me too), you can eat vegetables separately as a snack!
Mushrooms aren't technically vegetables so i won't count them as that, but snails eat those too!
Fruits as snacks!! Dried or fresh, doesn't matter, as long as it's something you like! Heck, there's candy in the shapes of fruits, but actual fruit is generally more healthy so maybe try that first.
This might shock some, but some snails actually do eat meat as well, mostly things like worms. I love to recommend worm gummies, but if you're feeling brave (and have access to it) you can try actual edible worms!
When keeping snails as pets, some will also occasionally feed them boiled eggs!
Other tips:
Snails are slimy! Use some kind of skin moisturizer or lotion for your skin. (You should probably do that in general but I imagine it can be pretty species affirming!) They also like to chill in moist places so the act of showering/bathing is a pretty snail coded thing 😎
Keep plants in your home and care for them! (on your own responsibility ofc) or get into gardening if it's your thing.
If you have a garden, spend more time there! Just chill outside, surrounded by plants and your fellow snails :)
Snails like to burrow! That's right, I see all of you with an additional canine theriotype wagging your tails. Go out and dig!!
Moss, sticks and other things from nature as decoration! (If you get it from outside make sure to sterilize it first! You don't want parasites!
Like in my spider post, I will say again that these are pretty mixed tips for a variety of different snails and not all of them are accurate to every single kind of snail, m'kay? I'm also not a snail therian myself, so it was harder to compile these than for the spider post, but I still hope it's helpful!!
Note: You DON'T have to do these things as a snail kin. These are species affirmation tips that MIGHT help you feel more connected to your 'type or eliminate some species dysphoria and are completely optional.
(I'M NOT TAKING ANY MORE REQUESTS!!)
