Giving meaning to his soliders is not Levi's promise it's his overall purpose though

True. If you want to get into specifics, Levi made a lot of promises. “I will kill the beast titan” and “Your deaths meant something. At last I’ll be able to prove it.”  are specific words but the meaning is the same. Levi will do everything in his power to finish the mission. So you’re right. It’s his general purpose. It’s who he is. I don’t think anyone is actually focusing on the semantics of that. 

While Zeke might represent that vow, Levi’s already shown that he’d prioritize humanity over that promise when he willingly supervised Zeke upon Zeke’s arrival on the island. It was only when Zeke proved himself to be a foe to the people of Paradis that Levi took action against him.

The teaser text at the end of this chapter is a direct reference to Levi’s 112 words when that happened.

The connection to Erwin, his vow, their fight for humanity is part of that. It can’t be ignored.

I think it’s also interesting that the title of this chapter is a reference to celestial phenomenon. While the fan translation is using “After Glow”, the Japanese is more inline with a blazing evening sky. That may also be a call back to a chapter where Levi’s promise was heavy on his mind, Erwin’s death chapter, “Midnight Sun.”

Levi's desicion

I know it's been long since this happened and all, but I just wanted to share my thoughts. So in chapter 84 when Levi chooses Armin instead of Erwin I wanted to point out something. Levi had more than one reason to make his final decision, but I've noticed that he had made his mind completely and even punched Eren before Mikasa attacked him. I'd say he wasn't even being rational and he didn't even think twice about giving the injection to Erwin.

Desperate and alone, Levi acts impulsively and he's convinced that they can't make it without Erwin.

But when Hanji appears look at his expression

It's like life comes back to his eyes. And he charges a bit his behaviour after seeing her and finding out she's alive

Here when she speaks we can see thoughtful Levi, he isn't giving the injection to Erwin immediately like he was about to do before but, why?

My thoughts are these. Besides Erwin being "drunk" with desire to fulfill his dream leading him to lose his primal selfless goal, and besides Levi feeling empathy on Armin and his friends, I can see Levi finding potential in Hanji as the new leader and inspiration of the corps. Realising he's not alone, that he hasn't lost(from my perspective) the most important person in his life, calls back his senses and he doesn't act desperately anymore becouse he isn't terrified of being alone anymore. It seems like when he thinks Hanji didn't make it he doesn't care about anything anymore, he just acts selfishly and won't listen to anyone's opinion, similar to Mikasa's attitude when she thought she lost Eren. But when he finds out she's okay then he goes back to his normal self. He can think more clearly of what's better, even if the price to pay is really high. Levi said before that "humanity can never defeat titans without Erwin's strength" but I think he sees in Hanji someone who can not replace but take the place of Erwin as the leader and inspiration of humanity.

Unhappy One Year Anniversary

Is it bad that i ship Moblit and Hange? I just look at how amazing their relationship is (was...;-;) and just go awwe. He was always by his side, they had known each other for such a long time and the fact that Moblit's last act on this world was saving Hange touches my heart. Do you think Hange thinks about Moblit from time to time thinking "I wish you were here" or "You always knew what to do"

You do you, my friend! Mobuhan is a quality ship. And yes, I’m sure Hange still thinks about him. In chapter 84 as they tell Mikasa that they understand the pain of losing people, they reflect on Moblit's final act.  Hange goes on to say that they can barely cling to their sanity when they think about the friends they lost. 

As they deal with insubordination in the survey corps and an uncertain political climate, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Hange spares some quiet moments missing Moblit.
