Medieval AU - Dio as Jonathan's whipping boy. Jonathan is royalty who cannot be hit, so they find a pauper (Dio) to take his punishments for him. This could go in a bunch of different directions, eh heh heh heh...
Yes!! I’ve actually thought about this au premise before. Whipping boys would usually be raised and taught with the princes and be their only companion, so there would be that emotional bond between them, but then the added animosity of Dio having to take all Jonathan’s blows for his scholarly errors. There could be Dio resenting Jonathan on days where he made many mistakes, Jonathan trying to tend to Dio after being struck (though being a prince he probably wouldn’t be all that good), bonding over these actions, growing up together, so many routes and scenarios it’s great.
