RWBY: Snowpines (I think that was the name for Oscar+ Whitley?I'm not sparing any of those siblings this time)
Oscar’s and Whitley’s relationship is one built ENTIRELY on a pile of messy coping mechanisms. On Oscar’s side, Whitley is basically the only guy or girl he knows who DIDN’T actually know Ozpin and feels like the ONE person he can just be ‘Oscar’ to. On Whitley’s side, Oscar is similarly basically the only person Whitley knows who didn’t actually know really anything about the Schnee family until very recently, and ISN’T close to either of his sisters or mother either (yes, Oscar is friends with Weiss, but he clearly isn’t nearly as close to her as JNR or especially RBY) and thus is someone he can likely just be ‘Whitley’ to.
Basically, they are both using each other as a relief from their emotional baggage. And they’re okay with that.
