My parents are looking at houses in the East Neuk (because we’re apparently made of money now?) rather than their usual plan to move to Ayrshire or Dundee, but honestly I just don’t think we have enough commitment to be Fifers
#Love Fife but like you kind of have to commit to being from there#I may be wrong but I feel it must take some effort#Not because Fife isn't beautiful and has lovely people in it#But like there's a reason they call it the kingdom of Fife#I don't think there's a half-hearted commitment- you're either from Fife or you're not in my book#Either way I vote Carrick#It's maybe too isolated for my parents compared to other bits of Ayrshire though#Still I liked it even if it was rather reminiscent of 90s Scotland in places#Both good and bad#So nostalgia#If I was going to write a bestselling novel about any particular region of Scotland I would be spoilt for choice#But with its rugged coastline; history smuggling and grisly Kennedy tales; and the Bruces and the beauty of the sea#You could do worse than Carrick#Fife is cool too though#Though that bestselling novel would be more Scots with red pantiles and crowstepped gables and merchant houses and 17th century curses#But I'm getting off topic
