I was recently discussing how conservative TV Shows are when it comes to abortion and have been for some time, and I referenced how when I was a kid the sit-com Soap aired a scene where three women sat around a kitchen table in the middle of the night having an adult conversation about whether one of them should have an abortion.

Me: in the end she decided to keep it, which turned out to be a mistake.

Millennial *makes a perfectly reasonable guess about how it might have been a mistake.

Me:  Oh no!  Nothing like that.  The baby turned out to be possessed because the father was this priest she was in in an on again off again relationship with and the whole thing turned into an Exorcist parody for a bit.

Millennial :  !!!

Me: Yeah, the plots on Soap were Just Like That.

Soap is a wonderful TV show with a non-stereotypical, openly gay character who’s given the exact same amount of importance as the rest of the main characters on the show and is given some truly wonderful storylines, such as having to fight to maintain custody of his daughter as a gay, single father, but man, Tumblr would absolutely hate it.
