So I went to a New Year's Eve party last night with my sober friends and it was a great time! I spent the night at one of my 12 Step program friend's houses so I wasn't traveling home with all the drunk drivers on the road. And then I had kind of a spiritual experience. This morning my friend dropped me off at work and right before I got out of the car he said, "You know what's great about today? We're not hung over." And as he drove away I saw the beautiful sunrise and it was so still and quiet and I just thanked God from the bottom of my heart that I was sober another day. When I walked into work, one of our cashiers said that one of our baggers actually walked into work today and called off. I don't know if she was hung over or what but I do know that if I had gotten drunk or high last night that I wouldn't have been able to show up and be there for my co-workers and my store.
