No because what if in that one scene in Descendants 1, Where Mal says she wants to be Good and be with Ben, holding out her hand in a form of a fist so the others can join her,
Their hands don’t join hers.
What if they don’t actually want to be good.
And it was all just an act.
And Mal is all distraught, like in Descendants 2 where she was in her room saying she has to get out of here ( aka Auradon ),
All the others like the Fairy Godmother, Ben, Bella and Adam who were all just witnessing the denial of Evie, Jay, and Carlos in joining Mal in the Good side, aren’t surprise.
Ben is quick to try and comfort Mal as he also tries to convince (or question) the trio on their denial of good.
Doesn’t take long until Maleficent shows up and she soon senses tension.
She looks around the room, and already figures what might have happened with how distraught Mal looks, how Ben’s arm is around her shoulder as he seemed urgent in speaking to the trio behind Maleficent.
Maleficent asks what happened here as she doesn’t already know, her teasing demeanor (or her laugh) sort of gave it away that she knew something happened before she got there.
Nonetheless someone from the trio tells her Mal decided to join the Good side, (I personally feel like it would be Carlos but it could be anybody you want it to be from the trio)
Blah Blah Blah Maleficent finds out or is told that the trio is behind her that they did not choose good unlike Mal.
And it all goes like the movie where Maleficent frozes time or just frozes everybody expect for Mal, Evie, Jay, Carlos, Dude, and herself.
Either for a fight scene, a talk in private to see if Mal was joking because it was smart (or not), I’m leaning more towards a fight scene, Mal vs all of them but it could go both ways honestly.
In the end Mal loses because well she just isn’t strong enough to defeat her Mother and she doesn’t exactly want to battle her friends or rather the people she considered as friends despite them trying to stop Mal from stopping her own Mother.
Dude is still there like in the original, he’s trying to help Mal defeat Maleficent but since he’s just a dog he can’t exactly do much, so he either just hides among the people who are frozen after a big scare (or do to Mal’s demand)
or he ends up following Carlos to try and make him realize that what he’s doing is wrong and that he should be helping Mal instead.
Carlos could either slowly realize that he doesn’t want to hurt Mal (and Dude) after Dude keeps chasing him down (or not, maybe Carlos just so happens to look Dude’s way as Dude was hiding behind a frozen person and Carlos feels bad as he sees Dude in distress or just sad, whimpering loudly like dogs do as the setting sets into a dramatic change; a slow motion route to focus on them).
Jay (and maybe Evie) eventually notices and snaps him out of it, Carlos says thanks he needed that and they continue to help Maleficent. (Not that she would need much help anyways).
And blah blah blah, Maleficent and the trio wins, Mal loses.
Maleficent soon moves into Bella and the Beasts castle, everyone is unfrozen, Villains are loose.
And everyone who once lived in Auradon is now just in deep supervision, well everyone except for Ben, the fairy Godmother, Bella, The beast, and Mal, as well as anybody who tries to be a hero and doesn’t hide it.
(Like trying to overthrow Maleficent).
They’re just straight up locked up somewhere.
And I’m not exactly sure what happens next because I didn’t think I would be so into this idea but here we are.
I mainly wrote this for potential Jarlos angst too..
Like Just imagine them slowly falling in love with each other but can’t because she’s good and Carlos is bad; he could be playing with your feelings Jane because he’s bored and UGHHHH!!!! My heart would just go crazy for that.
(Either Jane, Doug, and Lonnie could all be watched over by Carlos, Evie, and Jay or AK could also be locked up 🤷 separately and their VKs could be like their guards making sure they don’t try anything but I’m not sure about those ideas, up to you)
But totally A forbidden love!!
this could also work for Evie and Doug (I’m not much of an Evie x Doug shipper but I respect it)
For Evie and Doug, I feel like Doug would try and talk Evie into good, while Evie tries not to listen, she already betrayed one of her best friends she can’t just go back to her now, she’s way to far into this to crawl back to Mal.
(Carlos and Jay also think like that).
Im not a Lonnie x Jay shipper, they gave off friends vibes only to me (I do respect them tho) so they could also follow these similar scenarios or not up to you.
Heck people could switch Lonnie for Audrey, I personally like Audrey x Jay more, just make up an excuse as to what happened between her and Chad, Her and Mal talk and your good.
Unless you plan to add Audrey x Harry because OMG I love them sm more than Audrey x Jay.

Eventually who knows how but Evie, Jay, and Carlos decided to join the good side (better late then never)
They likely sneak into the castle or wherever Mal is located (because Maleficent doesn’t trust her now since the whole thing at the coronation so she has her locked up somewhere but she visits, the trio either break her out or tell her a plan they had after they (try to) apologize to her several times she hesitates at first because she thinks it’s a trap but she also doesn’t want to be locked up anymore so she eventually decides to take the risk after more talking).
(Or she agrees once she sees that they keep coming back to her, together or solo, to prove themselves to her that they’re being serious about this).
Once they free Mal, they free Ben because Mal wants to see if he’s okay and then it turns into a break out.
(Depending on if Ben is captured solo or not, I feel like Him being locked up solo or with his parents both could work well but with his parents??? You’ll barely hear from that boy).
They /could/ free His parents if he wasn’t with them but they really already risked their lives for Mal and they don’t want to do it for Ben’s parents who might not even offer much (or anything) to the team.
Which is okay with Ben, he knows the trouble (or already figured the trouble Evie, Jay, and Carlos must have gone through just to break Mal out) he doesn’t want to cause anymore trouble just to get his parents who again don’t have anything to offer to them.
(Maybe, up to you)
He is worried about them though, Mal knows and comforts him once they’re alone.
The four core and Ben try to figure out how (or where) Maleficent could have place the fairy Godmother because she’s really the only one who knows how to properly use the wand.
Mal probably knows where she’s kept, again up to you.
I say she does know, she just doesn’t know how they’ll be able to break Fairy Godmother out and get the wand from Maleficent because it’s all higher security especially now that it’s probably been days since Mal and Ben’s had escape, Maleficent heard and she ordered more security over the prisoners and people to look for Mal, Ben ehh, she didn’t care for Ben until she realized that Ben and Mal had a thing, she could use that to Trap Mal and so she “cares about” Ben.
Idk I feel like this would be a good what if fanfic, not sure if anyone made one but here’s an idea if you want to start one!!
