so you've been soft banned
Okay, I don't know what's going on with tumblr but several blogs I follow seem to have been soft banned recently. When tumblr soft bans a blog you can still access it as its creator but it no longer shows up in the search engine and often you won't get notifications about anyone trying to communicate with you. As far as I can tell there's no actual reason behind soft bans, they just seem to hit randomly and half the time people don't even realize they've been soft banned because tumblr doesn't bother to tell you. It's also pretty across the board. I've had this account soft banned. I've had side accounts soft banned. I even had tumblr soft ban and then delete one of my accounts after about a week (I got it back). I always just got the cut and paste 'tumblr is experiencing issues' excuse after it was fixed.
SO - keep an eye on your accounts for a while. These things seem to come and go in waves. Punch you account name into the search engine from time to time or check and make sure your posts are showing up in the tags. On the upside, at least for me, it was a pretty easy fix and tumblr usually got to it in a week. The deleted account took about two weeks.

DO report it because its much harder to report a deleted account than it is to report a soft banned account. They say not to contact them past the first report but I usually gave them about a week and then replied to the email they automatically sent out. I don't know if they're just testing out a new algorithm or someone's getting report happy and tumblr's not checking before they soft block. Tumblr does seem fairly fast about fixing things but you've got to catch it on your own.
Point is, watch out for yourself, watch out for your friends.
