Oh yeah, post about two games no one knows about:
I played the heck outta Solar on the 360 and remembered having a really chill time exploring the options and getting all the ingame achievements.
So I bought Solar 2 in like 2011 (when it released) or 2013 (when I bought like 30 games on steam because I had a new desktop at my disposal and splurged) and promptly didn't play it much, probably because of sudden computer issues by the time I got around to it in 2013? Worth mentioning "new desktop" is a relative term.
Anyways, I played it a few days ago for a couple hours and man, disappointing.
Not for any of the right reasons either.
Solar 2 is bigger, better, deeper, more challenging, has more goin' on- I mean Solar 1 (I didn't know this) was apparently just a prototype for this, so Solar 2 is basically "Solar, for real this time"-
but that's kinda my disappointment with it :(
Solar 1 was a relaxing scavenger hunt where you sought out all the in-game challenges, did little things like fly to the edge of the universe, or I believe one challenge had you seek out and get similar color planets to revolve around you- it was just a relaxing "Oh! That does THAT! Neat :)" kind of game.
Solar 2 is like tossing a combat engine into animal crossing :(
The challenges are much harder, the game has a LOT of combat challenges, multiple challenges are "We're gonna throw a million things at you, dodge em or protect this weak little asteroid, k thanks"
I'm sure a lot of people enjoyed it- it has positive reviews- but I played Solar to chill and occasionally tackle a hard idea- but this is like "Solar fight mode" and it's so uninteresting like that :(
Perhaps I mis-remember Solar 1, but regardless my enjoyment in 2 is nil :(
