The finished goldenrod shirt! I am so pleased with how this has turned out!

The chest pocket is no longer functional. I was originally not going to embroider all the way through it, but i wasnt liking how it would sag when worn and how that inturrupted the lines of the plant. It was much easier to tack it down fully.

Its been so nice to be able to wear this finally! I got it done in time for (canadian) thanksgiving and it was the perfect warmth for the weather we had.

Despite being a pioneer plant associated with old fields and disturbed sites, gray goldenrod (Solidago nemoralis) is one of my personal favorites of the thirty-odd species that grow in Central Appalachia. This bold colonizer is notable for its short, droopy stature, golden-yellow flowers that only grow on one side of stem, a reddish-purple main stem, and narrow, lanceolate leaves with fine hairs. In short, it's a perfect little bumblebee magnet with a great form factor for a native wildflower garden.

These are tiny goldenrod seedlings 🌾 (I have white arrows pointing at each one).

I had gathered some shorter-variety goldenrod seeds for my garden. I sprinkled some in potting soil to see if they'd germinate.

I had also collected blue mistflower seeds when I got the solidago ones. However, they have not sprouted. I will wait and see if/how they progress.
