The expert manipulator x frustrated apprentice confused why he can't read this one cat's emotions in particular
Classic! I like the idea with Jaypaw that Sol is so good at lying and concealing that even his empathic powers can't pin down anything specific. Jay isn't the type to just let something like that go, I think. He'd be drawn to Sol both to try and figure out why he can't read him and, possibly, because he likes having a cat he feels like he's on a level with (because he feels some sense of superiority to a lot of other cats). Of course, Sol is more than happy to take advantage of this, for both political and personal gain.
