🔥 fanfiction tropes

People forget that "trope" is just a repeating motif, so people that say "all tropes are bad" are essentially saying "all possible repeating motif across different media and genres are bad". I cannot convey how impossible it is to write a story without tropes.

Granted, there are some I absolutely despise, like the villainous aromantic asexual trope. There are also some I really enjoy, which you've probably seen if you know my AO3 account. If you don't, don't go looking.

hey sir knight (apologies if you are not a sir) I followed you semi-recently and am FINALLY picking up The Thief to read. I was checking goodreads reviews and everyone is like "it's GREAT it's AMAZING" or else "oh my GOD it's a BORING LONG JOURNEY where NOTHING HAPPENS until the end" and I was curious about your commentary on this? (fear not, I will read The Thief no matter what, but you're a fan of the series and I have been *searching* for your opinions on the first book).

lmao in all seriousness i get why people think nothing happens until the end (when everything happens) but like, i love the characters and their banter and storytelling and the development of their relationships and the worldbuilding so like, to me a lot of stuff happens! anyway my opinions are that it’s wonderful and i love it

6. most hated song in your native language?

Not exactly hate, but I find Cris Juanico’s Ses al·lotetes i el jove de San Lluis to be somewhat… grating. And look, Bon dia from Els Pets (the farts - yes, that’s the name of the group XD) is a good song, but it’s overused EVERYWHERE.

7. three words from your native language that you like the most?

- Pampallugues: sort of blinking, those flashes of light/dark sometimes you get over your eyes when you’re dazed or dizzy

- Somiatruites: dreamer, having unrealistic and naïve expectations (literally means “Omelette dreamer” XD)

- Xerinola: revelry, merry noises of celebration

23. which alcoholic beverage is the favoured one in your country?

Cava is THE catalan drink XD Wines are incredibly popular (and very much local) too. And when it comes to sweet wines, Moscatell is da bestest.

24. what other nation is joked about most often in your country?

There’s a lot of jokes about different Spanish regions, especially about how exaggerated the basque are (quick example of joke: A basque lumberjack fells a tree and proceeds to cut all the branches until only the main trunk remains. Then he drags it to the nearest bar, yelling “Oy, Patxi! I’m bringing you the toothpick!”). 

There’s also much joking about Andorra, saying it’s basically a poor man’s version of Switzerland for catalans. Supposedly, there are jokes about Portugal, but I’ve never heard one ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Foster’s cast ends up covered in little doodles of flowers and artefacts and cats; Klaxon is very proud of his handiwork :3

Hi! Your blog is really awesome and convinced me to watch Lucifer! I'm on episode 2 now and it's shaping up to be just as good as your posts make it out to be.

oh my god it gets so good

season 1 is light and sexy and flirty and funny but then around 1x09 it rolls out the giant hammer of feelings and doesn’t turn back

and then in season 2 the characters get so rich and their relationships are so well developed and there is so much pain but it’s such good pain and you will love everybody and just yes

Fantasy Asks

King: Describe your ideal day.

Oh geez, this one's hard because I don't have one kind of ideal day, I actually have three.

The first would be a day full of going out and getting MtG cards, new books, spending time at cafes, stuff like that. Generally having a day out of the house, probably with my mom.

The second would be a nice day at home, whether that's a day filled with magic and my deities or a day filled with yelling at cards while I get curb stomped by the Green Enchantment deck yet again.

The third would be a sunny day of volunteer work, probably doing traffic control but still having a space to sit down out of the heat and plenty of cool water waiting for me.

Overall, I'm flexible.

Unicorn: Who do you look up to?

Like with the last question, this one has a lot of different answers, so I'll just run through some witches here on Tumblr that I look up to!

@crazycatsiren - Miss Lorelei is incredibly knowledgable and well-spoken. Cat's confident in catself and she takes things in stride and with a grace that I can only ever hope to achieve.

@windvexer - Chicken has unknowingly taught me much just by the content that she puts out. She's also super fun to talk to if you do manage to have a conversation with her. I want to study her under a microscope (affectionate).

@breelandwalker - We all know that I'm a massive Bree stan, and that's because Bree does a lot of the stuff I find admirable - taking stands against misinformation and appropriation, encouraging people to consider mundane things before magical things, and not shying away from addressing "baneful" magic alongside "beneficial" magic.

@the-fox-jawed-witch - Like with Bree, I find Foxen admirable for taking stands against misinformation and appropriation. Foxen's doing magic, religion, running a blog for beginner witches ( @afledglings-guideto-witchcraft ), and owning/moderating several witch Discord servers...all while also being a parent! I could never.

Thanks for sending these in! I loved having a moment to gush over some of my favorite people.
