In the legends of the Solsonès area (Central Catalonia), it is said that there is a kind of spirits called pertenidors. They roam the earth and they cry repeating what they hear others say.
Pertenidors are the personification of echo. When you are in a place where you can hear echo, the tradition says that you shouldn't shout nor speak loudly, to avoid making the pertenidors suffer.

If the Plaza Mayor turns out to be the main square of the city, the Plaza de San Juan is the most emblematic square. In this is a beautiful fountain, from the fifteenth century, which was the old main fountain of Solsona. Formerly in this place executions and hangings took place. That is why in the eighteenth century a temple was built on the fountain where a chapel dedicated to San Juan Bautista, a saint who was beheaded according to his story, was located. In the square there is a plaque with a poem dedicated to it entitled "Record of Solsona" written by José María de Sagarra, a well-known Catalan writer who spent time in a house in the square. The buildings of the same stand out, which in their time housed important manor houses of the most important families of Solsona.

Solsonès is a shire situated at the geographical centre of Catalonia. Its capital city is Solsona.
The district has the most well preserved Baroque sculpture heritage of all Catalonia, thanks to the fact that Solsonès has remained very rural all these centuries which has protected it from revolutions and wars. Most churches, chapels, and sanctuaries have preserved their Baroque altarpieces.

Solsona, Spain (No. 2)
Solsona is a Spanish municipality and town in the province of Lérida , in the autonomous community of Catalonia . Capital of the Solsonés region , it is also the head of the judicial district and seat of the diocese of Solsona . It has a population of 9,131 inhabitants ( INE 2022). The pre-Romanesque image of the Virgin of the Cloister, as the patron saint of Solsona, and the secular Fiesta Mayor and Corpus Christi, as well as the Carnival, are some of its main attractions.
It borders to the north with the municipality of Lladurs and to the east, southeast, south, southwest and west with the municipality of Olius .

Solsona is a municipality and capital of the comarca of the Solsonès in the province of Lleida, Catalonia, Spain. It is situated in the centre of the comarca in the Catalan Central Depression. It is served by the C-55 road to Manresa, and is linked to Berga and Bassella by the C-26. Until a few years ago, Solsona used to be the main road used by people from Barcelona to go to Andorra.
The old town is known as the Nucli antic: it preserves a large part of its fortifications. The cathedral of Santa Maria de Solsona and the episcopal palace are in a neoclassical style. The latter houses the diocesan and comarcal museum and the Museum of Salt (Museu de la Sal), with crystals and objects made from the salt of nearby Cardona.
One of the most important events in the city is Carnaval, a pagan celebration that marks the beginning of the Quaresma. Tens of thousands of people come from all over Catalonia and beyond, to participate in the celebration that lasts almost one week.
Solsona is home to one of the oldest hunters' association of Catalonia, which held its 75th anniversary in 2015. The city also hosts the only big research centre of Catalonia located outside an urban area, the Forest Sciences Centre of Catalonia (CTFC), with around 100 people employed.
