I don’t know whether this has been done already but I haven’t seen anything on it so I decoded it myself. You know the solveme code on thelostspecial.com? The dancing men?
It translates to this:
“I see you stand like greyhounds in the slip-straining upon the start”
Right, so I looked it up, and i found out it comes from that “once more unto the breach dear friends” speech at the end of Shakespeare’s Henry V, 1598.
It literally means “I see you anxious and ready to depart”. Back to this speech again? What does it all mean??
I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips, straining upon the start.
I'm not an expert but my rough translation would be: "I see you are ready and waiting anxious to depart." Also the line after this in Shakespeare is actually: "The game is afoot." So maybe the game is just starting?
Found these by searching the source code and looking at previous/next image.
All images and corresponding url page numbers are below the cut because it was getting too damn long.
BTW this is the final image on the page (type in ‘xxx’):
Does this mean there will be more soon? I suppose we shall see.
To search by the numbers, type: http://thelostspecial.com/?p= and add the number; it will redirect to the page as listed below. (and no, the skipped numbers aren’t typos. the corresponding url doesn’t bring anything up). I really don’t think the numbers are significant but I decided to put in just in case anyone wants to take a stab at it.
Anyway, here we go:
75. solveme
solution is: “I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips; straining upon the start.” Here’s the decoder they used [x]
Note: this is not the official dancing men code from the original ACD canon. See my post about the dancing men here [x]
