ongietusomatic
[ongietusomatic]
ongietusomatic is an ongietusio related to somatic delusions, delusions of, affected by, brought on or influenced in some way by beliefs that something is medically, physically or biologically wrong with them. this term acknowledges the disconnect between reality and one’s perception of conditions they may or may not have, it does not romanticize nor idealize this experience.

no spoons for ids, sorry
radqueers, transid/x stay away from my terms thanks.
if possible, could i get some positivity for psychotic people with somatic delusions? they seem to be even more stigmatized than other delusions, at least in my experience. i've been called predatory and manipulative for believing certain things about my body (as if i'm just lying about it for attention and/or sympathy) and for that reason i'm scared to talk about it to even other psychotic people.
Hey there! Ofc!
Somatic delusions can be many things, from believing that you’re ill or infested, to feeling like parts of your body are misshapen, ugly or missing, to fearing that you are giving off strong odors - what they have in common is, that they’re delusions about your body.
They can be really scary and really painful - I’ve dealt with some of these myself, and I find that they often get mixed up with somatic hallucinations, to make the experience that much more real. W h y are brains like this?
Anyways, I’m so sorry people haven’t been understanding towards you and your condition, and I’m sorry to everyone else who’s gone through something similar.
To all the people currently dealing with somatic delusions: That can be some scary shit, and y’all are so strong for dealing with all the bullshit your brains throw at you. I know people might think your beliefs are bizarre, or even harmful, but we don’t choose our delusions, and it’s about time people recognize that.
Here’s a gif of tiny dogs to brighten your day!
