...Did she call herself a friend? Don't call on me again, don't call on me again Did she seem like before Did she seem above it all Be sure to send my love...

BIRMINGHAM AT NIGHT
Here is my first publication, ‘Second City’ - a 16 page zine, featuring my black and white street photography.
The pictures were shot in Birmingham on film and hand printed in the Some Cities Birmingham dark room. The zine was made by Rope Press using a risograph machine, so it’s as analogue and local as possible, if that’s what you’re into.
Grab yourself a copy from £3, including UK postage. You can get them from

In a peculiar and wonderful coincidence, the couple that are in my picture of The Rep came to the Reclaim Festival where it was being shown. They had no idea, were justifiably confused and happily, very excited to see it.

Some Cities - Doves, 2005
Some Cities (Doves)
Doves' post-Britpop differs from that of their peers, we already heard that thanks to Goodwin's voice, though this is not the only reason they vary from them. They also like to modify their sound, they keep evolving their idiom, so the shift in their music on Some Cities shouldn't surprise us. While their previous LPs felt like records from a band that used to play electronica, they shed the vestiges of their previous identity to go full rock. However, the platter doesn't resemble a back-to-basics affair, Doves remain themselves, but they try another approach to their usual modus operandi. All this occured, because they went introspective, i.e. they dealt with their emotional problems and the changed that happened to Manchester. Thus, Some Cities is a disc of bewilderment.
