I'm kidding.... Unless 👀
Uhhhhh.... #72
I gave you an entire werewolf story last night.
But #72 is All My Friends by Dermot Kennedy and yeah no, this won't be werewolf!Eddie.
Eddie remembers that night. Tired from a day in the sun, swimming in the lake, and laughing with good friends. He couldn't stop smiling the whole way home. Eddie hadn't known it but his whole life changed that day. The day he met Shannon. It feels like a thief has come in and stolen everything he gave for her though, left it so she only called when she was angry and seething. Eddie wants to go back to when he had smiles and love for his late wife. Not this bitter, hollow thing that eats at him. Buck tells him he'll find his way though. Eddie hopes for one summer night, maybe where he can take Buck to that lake, create more memories with another person he loves. Although he does love Shannon. He always will. She was his first love, his best friend, the woman who made him a man and a father. Even with the bitter feelings that try to eat their way through those memories, Eddie knows he loved Shannon. He loved those moments walking with her, the smell of rain on pavement and a streetlight casting this glow over her. He would compare her to a lantern in the snow, guiding him home. Buck is that now though. Brighter, even. Eddie thinks often of his time with Shannon, what it taught him. After he returned from war, she probably thought that he was lost to the evil that had seeped into his bones then. He knew he walked with the wolves and it haunts him. Shannon stepped through life with intention to run free, and he knew he could never hold her back. Never wanted to. These things taught him how to love and cherish Buck properly though. His new lantern in the snow. Guiding him through the darkest of times. But it never casts shadows over Eddie's love for Shannon. Buck holds that love in his hands, shines brightly upon it, smiles fondly down at it, reminds Eddie of that summer night where he couldn't stop smiling the whole way home.
