Trapped

Stars above me

Moon behind me

But I’m lost, left behind these concrete walls, wishing with all my heart to feel the soft light on my skin.

Trapped, I can only stare at stone and iron, as if these fading eyes could see past them out into the night sky.

But instead there is nothing.

Nothing left but me.

Earth below me.

Fire before me.

I close my eyes and try to feel it.

But there’s nothing but the angry buzz of fluorescent lights and wires in these walls.

It seeps into my skin, painting it grey, poisoning me slowly.

I want to escape

But the door has long closed.

There’s no way out.

There is nothing left here.

Nothing left but me.
