The alarm clock startled Harry out of asleep at an ungodly hour, and he groaned as he reached over Lou, who had managed to squeeze onto the bottom bunk with him, to turn it off.
He sighed into Louis’ hair, squirming under the heat of Louis’ bare chest against his. It’d been a welcomed warmth when they’d finally dozed off, a bit after midnight, but the air conditioner didn’t seem to circulate down in the depths of the ship where their room was located, and overnight their small, cramped space had begun to feel more like a sauna than a living area.
“Gotta get off of me, sorry,” Harry muttered sliding himself out from under Louis, and pushing himself off the bed, “I’m taking a shower. You better be up by the time I’m done, today’s the day.”
He was met with a muffled groan, and Harry smirked as he took the two steps it required to reach the bathroom from the bunk bed.
The shower consisted of little more than a three-foot by three-foot stall, with icy cold water, but it was a welcomed coolness, and the sweat and heat of the night washed down the drain as Harry scrubbed the secrets of last night down the drain.
He was out of the shower and dressed in shorts and a t-shirt before Louis had managed to untangle himself from the sheets, his face red and rosy from the cocoon of covers he’d buried himself in.
“It’s fucking hot down here,” Louis complained as he stumbled for his drawer, “As soon as we reach the next port I’m hopping off and getting a fan.”
“Wouldn’t have been so hot if you hadn’t been on top of me,” Harry replied, and Louis raised a lazy eyebrow at Harry.
“You complaining?” he asked, tugging a V-neck over his head, leaving his hair ruffled and Harry quickly shook his head, “That’s what I thought. Come on Styles, you’re going to make us late.”
Without another word Louis opened the door to the hallway and Harry followed him down the hall, and up to the staff dining room, that was bustling already at six in the morning, as staff and face character alike tried to fit in a meal before they were to done their uniforms and costumes, and meet the awaiting families who were already gathering in excitement to start their week long cruise.
The two loaded up their plates with the large buffet of food that made up for the mornings heat and then stood in the middle of the dining hall, scanning the area for a familiar face.
“Ah, should’ve known to follow the bread crumbs,” Louis muttered, nodding off to the corner of the room where Niall could be seen talking animatedly with his mouth open, sending bits of toast flying into he air.
Harry laughed and followed Louis over to the table, sliding his tray next to Niall.
“Morning,” Liam and Niall greeted, and Zayn kind of grunted into his cup of coffee.
“Rough night?” Louis asked Zayn, and Zayn groaned, barely managing a nod, “Is it Dave?”
Dave was Zayn’s roommate, whose main purpose in life appeared to be to serve Disney, and he did it with the biggest smile and pep that Harry had ever seen. He wasn’t a face character, but a high up on the concierge crew, which meant he was entitled to the same living chambers as face characters.
Apparently the miniature hellholes Harry had already begun to loathe were thought of as a step up from other bunkhouse rooms. Rooms Harry had little desire to ever step foot in.
"He’s just talking. Constantly. Ask me a question about Disney, ask me any question, I know it now. Come on, quiz me!” Zayn muttered with crazy eyes and Harry, Louis, Niall, and Liam stared at him blankly. Zayn took a deep breath and reached with a shaky hand for his cup of coffee, “I know all,” he muttered, staring into space.
“Fucking mental, that one,” Niall muttered under his breath, turning to Harry, “So Chip, you ready? You know if you need any advice on how to lead, you just let me know. I know Chip pretty well, inside and out, I really connect to that character-“
“It’s a fucking chipmunk Niall, how much connection is going on? Should we be worried?” Louis asked and Harry snorted, reaching under the table and squeezing Louis’ hand, “I’m sure Harry will be able to draw on his past, playing Dale, who, mind you, is a fucking chipmunk too, and be able to emulate Chip.”
“They’re not the same, they’re two different people-“
“They’re not even people Niall, they’re cartoon chipmunks-“
“Okay, enough,” Liam interrupted the bickering, “Niall, I’m sure Harry will be just as good as Chip as you were. And I’m sure you’ll be just as good as Dale as he was. We’re not starting our first day off with self-created tension. And Louis, why don’t you let Harry fight his own battles?”
Harry groaned, glancing at Louis out of the corner of his eyes, as his boyfriends face began to turn a dark shade of red.
“Excuse-“
“Alright, well I’m done,” Harry said hurriedly, cutting off Louis, “And as lovely as I’m sure the upcoming conversation was going to be, why don’t we just skip to the end where we all forgive each other, blame it on the stress of the job, and go up to the green room. Sound good?”
“Sounds great!” Niall replied, before Liam or Louis could open their mouth, “Zayn, sound good?”
Zayn didn’t reply, and after a few seconds all eyes turned to the fifth wheel of their group, who was slouched in his chair, head back as he snored quietly.
Louis smirked, leaning forward and clapping his hands loudly in front of Zayn’s face, startling him out of sleep.
“Zayn! Quick! When was Snow White made?” He asked his dazed friend who blinked away the sleep slowly.
“1937,” he mumbled, still half asleep and Louis took a step back, looking impressed.
“Well fuck. He wasn’t lying about that then. He really does have that Disney shit down.”

If wearing the furry costume in Disney World had been hot, Harry wasn’t quite sure how to describe the warmth of the Chip head and fur costume, accompanied with the heat from the sun beating down on the main deck, he, Zayn, Liam, Louis, and Niall were all currently stationed on, the humidity of the sea making it even more sticky.
“It’s warmer than August on the ranch,” Caitlyn, a young, blonde, country girl from a prominent oil family in Texas, complained.
In the green room, she’d taken quite a keen liking to Harry and Louis, sitting by them and detailing her life plan of making her own way, without her daddy’s money and instead pursuing a career in acting.
This was only a mere stop on her way to Hollywood, to get some acting experience out of the way.
And though sweet, and more than charming, Harry wasn’t holding his breath to see her in any Oscar nomination announcements. Regardless, the whole group had breathed a collective sigh of relief when they realized their final main companion, in the Mickey Mouse Entourage, wasn’t a raging bitch, or another Dave.
The group had been instructed to stand on Deck 12, and wave at the queue of quests who were baking in the hot Florida sun as they waited their turn to board the Disney Fantasy and get their own taste of Disney Magic, and a taste of a complimentary cool beverage.
“Fucking hell guys, you’ll never guess what I just heard,” Zayn came lumbering onto the deck, his voice muffled by the large Pluto head that wobble on his own narrow shoulders.
“Language,” Liam hissed, and Zayn looked around, motioning with his arms dumbly.
“Do you see any kids around? Anyways, guess what Dave just told me. Apparently this talent agent, he’s president for Miller/Gold talent agency, he’s on board with his kids and told some Disney execs he’s looking for new talent,” he finished and was immediately met with a delighted shriek from Caitlyn.
Harry remained a bit more skeptical, and per usual, his feelings were put into words by Louis who snorted, a sound that sounded more than right coming from Donald Duck’s permanently mischievous smile.
“Because if I were a talent agent I’d find talent on a fucking cruise ship. That doesn’t make any sense Zayn.”
Zayn held up his arms in self-defense, “Mate, I’m just relaying the message, okay. All I’m saying, is if someone asks you to get on stage and act like dumbasss Donald Duck I would do it. Because this doesn’t have to be all about magic anymore, this could be about real life success, you know?”
The group stared at Zayn in uncomfortable silence, and suddenly, the bright, colorful, Disney world that had just been radiating around Harry, seemed a bit darker.
“Finally, a fucking cloud,” Niall muttered, and Harry gazed up to the sky, where a single cloud had covered the sun, cutting off the beaming light.
He stared at the cloud for ages, waiting for it to move on, but the shade stayed.
And with a pop of a champagne bottle from inside the captain’s bridge, a burst of confetti, and cheers around the boat, the Disney Fantasy set sail, under that cloud.
