MAGNUS CHASE & THE GODS OF ASGARD DEMIGOD H/CS MASTERLIST: [TUMBLR] \\ [AO3]
You were already made aware you’re a child of Loki then most Norse demigods. This is mostly attributed because of Loki himself, as he makes it aware to your parents that he’s Loki and you learn of this, and even if you were kept unaware of your godly parentage, Loki appears himself to you either ‘in-person’ or in your dreams.
Given Loki’s list of children and how he treats them, in mythology and in the books, I would consider him a more present godly parent then the other (Norse) gods; which is both a good thing yet is also a bad thing at times.
Loki makes himself/herself present in your life as many times as he likes throughout your life; regardless if you feel amicable to him or not. Though if its the latter, he’ll definitely make it a point to appear in your life with visions and dreams/nightmares.
He definitely loves his children, but it sometimes edges towards the fact it's because you’re his children, that you’re carrying his blood and everything. Paired with what happened to his immortal children in the past, yeah he’s present a lot. Again, great for the fact he’s a much more present godly parent but on the other hand, depending where your loyalties lie-
However you feel being a child of Loki, whether its super cool or super bad, it doesn’t change about the constant suspicion and immediate speculation on who you are. This is attributed solely on Loki’s actions and his stance towards how he treats others and being a part of Ragnarok.
Loki, while in mythology has been rather helpful with the Aesir and the worlds, and is contributed to being a key in solving numerous situations, he is also very known to sabotage or cause harm to others on his own accord. Especially after revealing to be the one who was responsible for the death of the beloved Baldur and being the reason why Baldur wasn’t/couldn’t be revived either, many don’t have a good perception to Loki, and his children either.
Yes, while you can shapeshift as you like as your power from animals to people, it does come with a heavy price. Like in the books, the more you shapeshift, the more you feel and allow Loki’s nature and power take hold of you, leaving you at the mercy and whims of the god; much like how he made Sam not breathe in “The Hammer of Thor”.
There is also a great risk that by shape shifting more and more, you start to lose your sense of self, of who you are as a person and your agency as a person and without a strong tether as who you are as a person, this makes you easily manipulated and lost.
Basically cool powers but always at a great, great, price.
You’re extremely smart, whether by intellect or wits, as Loki is the father of Lies and Mischief which requires a lot of wisdom and knowledge. This also puts you as a person who is able to see the broader scope of things and acknowledge parts that many ignore.
You’re either getting yourself in and/or out trouble and/or getting somebody out of trouble. You’ll probably keep asking yourself how you keep getting yourself into these situations, usually in the moment of things,
Being a child of Loki also means being of change. It’s going to happen whether you like it or not, whether you are part of the change or are swept up in it.Maybe you start the change, or heck, even Loki. The hardest thing for being a child of Loki is accepting the change and owning it entirely.
One of the runes that would symbolize Loki as a force of change, and as a child of Loki, is the rune Eihwaz, ᛇ -Yew- and while yes it does represent Yggdrasil, it represents major and necessary change, growth, spiritual exploration, and there might be a significant confrontation with one’s inner fears and insecurities at hand.
Like Loki, and Alex Fierro and Samirah al-Abbas, they each have a sense of adrenaline or movement to them, an eagerness to experience something intense. Loki, routinely is impulsive in getting himself involved one way or another, Alex Fierro constantly shapeshifts without care, and Sam with her love of flying and being airborne, as a child of Loki, there is always that feeling within you.
It might be present where you just like to take spontaneous walks, jumping on the bed, to something more active.
One of the runes that you might feel close to is the Rune Kenaz- ᚲ - Torch. In the case of Loki, it symbolizes Loki’s fire and creativity, as both a Fire Jotun as well his constant inspiration. He’s known for his cunning and mischief which is also a form of creativity.
As a child of Loki, this rune can be used to tap into Loki’s fire jotunn spect and summon fire much more easily, or simply allow you to show you the light towards the darkness of lies.
Snakes are a symbol of Loki, and so in turn, as a child of Loki. Depending how you feel and your experience with snakes, it is either your symbol or your ill-omen. Regardless, they mean something to you so you should make the most out of it, accept the change and fluidity it brings.
Loki is a fire jotun (giant) so I can only imagine as a child of Loki, you may inherit his fire jotun ancestry. This could mean inheriting either fire-resistance to the more extreme fire immunity.
Maaaaybe being able to summon fire but I feel like there’s a little tradeback going with the ability to shapeshift or the degree to shapeshift if you do have the power of fire. Maybe you can become the human torch like Johnny Storm from Fantastic 4, but who knows? But uh, just note if you do attempt, be sure to be aware and prepare the necessary fire precautions.
You’re definitely crafty; both in terms of personality and handiness.
You’re crafty where you can be degrees of subtle and cunning in situations, as well as being crafty where you are good with making things;crafty where you’re good at art and crafts, good with your hands to make things for situations (much like Loki was attributed to be the one who invented the fishing net, which was used against him when he turned himself into a salmon to hide from the gods),
or crafty where you are able to hodge-podge things together in a sticky situation.
Back on being crafty, it’s not a surprise if you find yourself drawn to an artform of some kind. Like Alex Fierro with her and his pottery, and with a higher chance of have dexterous fingers, you are able to craft things together that make them yours.
Being the child of the god of lies, you have a sense of picking out lies or faults. It doesn’t necessarily mean you are and were ever safe or live out your life without being lied to or tricked by, but you can pick out their words or just have that uneasy feeling that something isn’t quite right.
On the other hand, you have a better sense of what is an illusion or if someone isn’t entirely being truthful. Just remember, just because someone is lying or putting up an illusion, it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re doing it out of malicious intent. They have a reason, though whether it's good or bad, you have to discern that yourself.
The great horse Sleipnir, conceived following the events where Aesir made a bet with a jötunn that if he built walls around Asgard within a certain time limit he could have the Sun and the Moon, as well the goddess Freyja for his wife.
As the time passed however, it became clear to the Aesir that with the skill and strength of the jötunn paired with his trusty stallion, Svaðilfari, he would absolutely complete his task within the time limit. Thus, Loki devised a plan, and taking the form of a mare, he distracted Svaðilfari enough to prevent the jötunn's victory. Some time later, Loki gave birth to the eight-legged grey horse, Sleipnir.
