Ask game 10!
(Ask game can be found here!)
10. They're getting married. Who proposed? Where was that proposal? What season is the wedding taking place?
Aaaaahahahahaha I have to answer this in parts.
Because I think Amy asks first. I think Amy let's her heart run ahead of her brain with her mouth right behind it. I think she and Shadow would be in the middle of doing nothing in particular, and then the next thing she realizes, she's saying she loves them, she wants to marry them, she wants to build a life with them- do they feel the same?
And Shadow basically bluescreens so hard that Amy thinks she finally, actually broke him. Oh no. She did it again. She was too much. She expected too much. She always does this, she-
Shadow, once he is able to recover from the pure Amy Rose Love he was just hit with, is able to croak out yes, they feel the same, yes, they want the same.
They just... *can't let themselves*.
At least, not yet.
Because Shadow doesn't have a right to themselves. They are a tool under contract by G.U.N., only able to walk about because Rouge, as his 'handler' accepts all responsibility if something goes wrong. These are the parameters of 'living' he and Omega must contend with. Life inside a box in finger's reach of Rouge, who in turn, is on a short leash clutched in the cruel hand of G.U.N.
Before, when Shadow perceived there to be no other option to honor his promise to Maria and atone for what he had tried to do/what he had been built to do, such small amount of living was acceptable. Since then, however, as he grew and changed, and life became bigger than his sorrow, especially after allowing himself to become closer to Amy... it no longer was enough.
Shadow promises Amy that when - not if, *when*- he is able to get Rouge, Omega, and himself out of G.U.N.s control, he will be able to say those three words back to her, and they can start a new life, together.
True to their word, the day Shadow gets his papers in hand, proving his personhood and his ownership of self, he rushes to Amy. She's waiting outside the courthouse, vibrating with anticipation, only to scream with joy as he zooms out and takes her in his arms, kissing her in broad daylight, consequences be damned. Shadow finally gets to tell her they love her, *in those words,* and asks her if she still wishes to marry him.
Obviously, the answer is, 'yes'.
They get married in the threshold between spring and summer. The wedding is outside, attended by close friends and family.
It is one of the happiest days of their life.
