MATSUCHI NAKAJIMA (1851-1938) was one of Japan's great pioneering photographers of the Meiji era, and a founding member of the JAPAN PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY. He produced all formats of his day, and is said to have been a perfectionist.
