Today had been nothing short of an exhausting day for you. You had been to the doctor to see how you were doing in your third trimester–which was progressing nicely, just a few more weeks–then did some grocery shopping, which you were extremely stubborn about doing despite both of your husband's protests.
Now, at home at last, you were settled between Gelato's legs, back pressed to his front as his calloused fingers gently caressed the stretched skin of your stomach, tracing every stretchmark as Sorbert tsked. “You overdid it.” Sorbert, who was down by your feet, gave you a half-hearted glare, “Your ankles are very swollen. You were on your feet for too long.”
You let out a huff, earning a chuckle from Gelato, “He's right. You completely overdid it, cara. What ever will we do with you?” He teased you. A tight frown spread across your face, you knew he was only teasing, but with your emotions already a mess, you could only retort, “I'm tired of sitting around all damn day. I want to do things, not sit here and be useless just because I'm carrying our kids.”
Sorbert's features, once soft, immediately sharpened like a dagger, “Excuse you?” He sat up straighter, “You don't get to say that about our wife.” Gelato sighed and shook his head, “That's very cruel of you.” His lighthearted tone had gotten colder, “We don't appreciate you talking badly about yourself, cara… Maybe we should punish you for that.”
You stiffened, your face growing hot. Sorbert's fingers grasped your chin and tilted your head, making you look at him. God his stare was so intimidating. “Apologize to yourself. Now.” You stared in shock for a moment, before caving, “I uh… Yeah. I'm sorry.” You finally said.
Both of the men were satisfied, Sorbert leaned in and kissed you, his lips melding into yours, while Gelato peppered your neck with gentle kisses. You let in a sharp breath through your nose, melting under their affection. Gelato detached from your neck and would mumble against your ear, “Let us take care of you. We're your husbands, our job is to make our already hardworking wife take it easy. You're already growing two children inside your body, that's more than enough.”
Sorbert pulled back, letting out a breathless sigh, “We love you, so much.” His hand went from your chin to gently grasp your neck, “Don't you ever forget that.”
Tears stung your eyes as you finally managed a shaky nod, a sniffle escaping you. Sorbert and Gelato took their time to pepper you in kisses and whisper soft praises that you knew they meant.
Just a few more weeks. Just a few more weeks and then you can finally push these little monsters out… You all couldn't be happier.
When you finally went into labor and brought your twins into the world, you were beyond exhausted. Despite this exhaustion, you were happy, finally able to hold the little ones in your arms. You were holding the younger twin in your arms, admiring his little face, while Sorbert was holding the older twin.
Gelato stood between the two of you, his head leaning against Sorbert's shoulder, staring in awe. “They're both so small.” He murmured. Sorbert turned his head and pressed a kiss to Gelato's temple, “He looks like you, caro.” Gelato smiled, “Huh. I guess he does.”
As they talked, you listened quietly and thought to yourself, ‘That must mean Gelato is the biological father then.’ You smiled softly, before glancing back down at the little one in your arms again, but then it hit you. The younger twin looked a lot more like Sorbert.
You glanced at your husbands, “Hey… This one looks more like Sorbert.” They snapped their heads at you, confusion evident in both their faces. They both moved closer to get a better look.
“That… Should be impossible.” Sorbert's brows furrowed as he reached out to trace the baby's nose, which more closely resembled his own, sharp and curved like his. Gelato stared, confused, “So… Who's the actual biological father then?” He wondered out loud. “Yeah… I'm wondering about that too.” You added on, before all three of you glanced over at the door. Right on time, the doctor walked in, pausing when the attention was all on her.
“Uh–Is everything alright? They didn't swap the babies, did they?” She joked awkwardly. “No ma'am,” Sorbert started, “We just realized that our babies look like… Well, like both Gelato and I.” He gestured to both himself and Gelato. “I thought children were supposed to have only one biological father.”
The doctor looked puzzled, before choosing her words carefully, “Well, if you wish, we can do a paternity test to see who the actual father is.” She offered, “We just need swabs. It'll take a few weeks.” The men glanced at each other, a silent confirmation, before Gelato nodded, “Yeah, let's do it.”
Weeks had passed before you were all finally called in to get the results. Sat in the doctor's office once more, you all waited for the doctor, who finally entered the room.
Stepping in, she held a folder, “So, the results are in, as you already know. Turns out both of you are the fathers.” She stated, handing over the papers. Sorbert quickly grasped them, shock evident on his face, “That–It should be impossible!” He couldn't comprehend, it didn't make sense, “Explain.” He said sharply.
“Oh! Well, there is this phenomenon, heteropaternal superfecundation. It's extremely rare, but it's when the woman's body releases two or more eggs during the menstrual cycle. It leaves room for both eggs to be fertilized by different fathers.” The doctor explained proudly, “Technically, your children are half-siblings if you think about it.”
“Woah…” Gelato muttered, taking it all in quietly. Sorbert was still processing it, it made sense now, it was just taking a moment for him to wrap his head around it, and then you. You were shocked, sure, but you weren't put off by it. If anything, you were thrilled! You had children with both of your husbands at the exact same time, something extremely rare, but it happened to you.
You placed both of your hands on their arms, “Isn't it exciting?” You grinned at them. Gelato chuckled, “Yeah, that is pretty exciting. Never expected this to happen to us, but I'm not complaining.” Sorbert finally nodded, his face softening, “Yeah.” He whispered, “Seems like whatever god or entity is out there chose us to experience this. It's certainly odd, but exciting nontheless.”
Although the phenomenon had taken you all by surprise, it didn't change a thing. You were all gonna be a happy family, learning to raise twins along the way. That's all that truly matters.

˖ ᡣ𐭩 ⊹ ࣪ ౨ৎ˚₊
Warning(s): Not much, kinda fluff? Angst-ish, teenagers being rebellious and distant, giving their dads white hairs (excluding Risotto on that). Possible spelling and grammar errors, apologies in advance. Gender neutral reader referred to as 'you'.

₊˚⊹ ᰔ Risotto Nero
𖹭 Risotto wasn't sure how to feel when his daughter went from being affectionate to being distant. It confused him, but he didn't push it either, instead he gave her space.
𖹭 However, he ends up giving her too much space, and there was a point that she felt like he was basically ignoring/neglecting her, and you had to step in.
𖹭 The two sat down and talked for a little bit, albeit awkward because both of them are really bad about feelings. When they realize it's a misunderstanding, they come up with a solution.
𖹭 On the off times his daughter acts out, (which is rare because I don't imagine his kid being the type to really act out as much), he is quick to reprimand and discipline her. He does not let shit slide like that, especially if she was being disrespectful.
₊˚⊹ ᰔ Prosciutto
𖹭 Absolutely offended when his daughter starts getting rebellious and avoidant with affection. But he also gets it–Or he tries to. Really, he tries to. But this man is extremely controlling, so he struggles.
𖹭 Very strict and disciplines her a lot more now that she acts out more and is in her rebellious phase. He's the type of man to sit in the dark living room, waiting for her to get home, let her sneak in all quiet, before turning on the light and questioning where she was.
𖹭 There tends to be a lot of tension, but the moment something happens to her, he is right there protecting her.
𖹭 They may not be on the greatest terms now, but that is his baby, and NOBODY will lay a finger on her if he can help it. Despite the tension, despite the rebellion, despite it all, all he cares about is that she comes home safe and sound, even if she ends up grounded for a whole month.
₊˚⊹ ᰔ Formaggio
𖹭 Probably one of the few men who aren't offended by the rebelliousness and distance. If anything, he's pretty laidback about it.
𖹭 You have to tell him to help out with discipline, which he does, but it always feels half-hearted.
𖹭 He and his son actually still get along, it's more of a you vs your son because you're the more responsible one. But trust me when I say, if your son ever disrespects you or anything like that, Formaggio turns into the bad cop real quick.
𖹭 Shrinks his own son and puts him in a bottle for awhile if need be. If he wants to act out and disrespect his other parent, he can go to bottle jail until he can actually apologize.
₊˚⊹ ᰔ Illuso
𖹭 Offended, honestly offended. His daughter just decides she doesn't wanna dress all pretty anymore and resort to–HOODIES AND JEANS??? WHAT?!
𖹭 And when she tells him she doesn't want him to do her hair anymore, that's when he loses it. That was their bonding time, and now she wants to do it all by herself?! He goes to you to sulk about it.
𖹭 She sasses HIM now. It used to be just La Squadra, but now it's her father. Y'know, he's proud, he really is, but also very offended now that she's being sassy and condescending with him.
𖹭 Poor Illuso doesn't handle it well and his pride is bruised every time she rejects any bonding time. They still have their good days, but man, it weighs on him a lot, and sometimes you need to go talk to your daughter. Like you did with Illuso, you break down her walls and she admits a lot. She may not be as affectionate as she was before, she still makes time to spend with both of you.
₊˚⊹ ᰔ Ghiaccio
𖹭 Good lord, goodbye any peaceful days you used to have, because they're gone now. Your son inherited his dad's anger issues, and they're bad.
𖹭 Sure, Ghiaccio is going to anger management and it's WAY better than it was years ago, but he still deals with them, and there's a lot of explosive arguments and you have to mediate. A lot.
𖹭 After bad arguments, both usually storm off to go cool off somewhere, while you first clean up the ice they've both created, before talking to both of them. At the end of it, Ghiaccio ends up sitting with his son and apologizing, and they have a talk, which, things get resolved, even though the teen is still feeling pretty bitter about it.
𖹭 He isn't offended that his son isn't affectionate, or even repelled by it. He was that way too. He gets it, and he doesn't push it, if his son gives cues/asks for it, he absolutely will, but other than that, he gives his son space.
₊˚⊹ ᰔ Melone
𖹭 He saw it coming, of course he did, he knows a lot about the human body, the hormones and the possible feelings that come with it–He knows, so he isn't offended.
𖹭 However, your son is more than offended when his father takes the time to basically study him and his feelings, and it just irritates him more than he already is.
𖹭 Melone does stop this when he realizes how much it irritates the young lad, but he isn't sure on how to deal with an angsty teen. He's never been in this situation before. He does try to talk to him, but his son tends to avoid him.
𖹭 After a certain amount of time there is a resolve, it was when the teenager was struggling with a class project that the two bonded and finally found some peace once again.
₊˚⊹ ᰔ Pesci
𖹭 Probably the most devastated that his little girl started rejecting his affection. He knows that this is normal with teenagers, but this doesn't hurt him any less.
𖹭 Definitely came to you crying and clinging to you, unsure of what to do. After a long with each other, you two come to the conclusion of having an honest, heart-to-heart talk with your daughter.
𖹭 Getting your daughter to sit down and actually talk was rough, because she was purposely trying to avoid the both of you, but eventually, you found the right time and place to do so, and, as every teen does, they struggle with feelings and insecurities.
𖹭 After that talk and a lot of reassurances and hugs, Pesci is relieved. He's heartbroken because she felt incredibly insecure, and it brought him back to the old days, but he was relieved he could resolve them. He makes sure to tell her affirmations every morning now too instead of at bedtime, just so she knows she's loved and she's beautiful.
₊˚⊹ ᰔ Sorbert & Gelato
𖹭 Sorbert and Gelato handling some troublesome teens… Woof, what could go wrong?
𖹭 Okay firstly, I know Sorbert struggles with his boys being so rebellious and being overall punks. He does get a little snappy with them. Gelato on the other hand, it was all fun and games at first, but he doesn't tolerate disrespect or bullshit.
𖹭 The dad duo teams up to reel in the boys and makes them behave, and it's up to you to remind them to be softer on the boys, they're still kids after all, just navigating new territory.
𖹭 You're still probably the twins favorites, as they tend to go to you for other small things. The teens still get along with their dads, but they also like to push on their dads boundaries and limits. They don't do that with you however because they know they'll be in extra trouble if so.
