do the dragons like squeaky cat toys. Pls I need to know -

do they, like, randomly chew on stuff.

as for the cat toys!!! it depends on the dragon :)

toothless?? absolutely. hiccup doing that thing with his metal tools reflecting light & toothless chasing it?? absolutely. toothless is very Cat™️. he likes chasing small puff balls, hiccup gets one of those feather toys on a pole, squeaky mouse toys, etc. altho he'd much prefer to catch & eat actual mice... but yea he likes squeaky cat toys the most

deadly nadders like stormfly are more similar to parakeets/parrot like birds in stature! talking to her so she tries to mimic is smth she loves!!! BUT!! stormfly still loves playing fetch!! she also just likes games in general!!! hiding her toy so she finds it, etc!!! she likes little bells too. she also enjoys playing with astrid's braid when she sits on astrid's shoulder. she likes playing with string :) and she's a shredder.

monstrous nightmares like hookfang like to rough house like dogs & cats! pinning the horns down & stuff!! also a tugger!! play tug of war with him!! but like a cat he is a climber. think abt hookfang climbing the arena chains!!! he's like a bat sometimes!! likes scaring ppl!! also helps toothless chase mice. surprisingly tho he likes clinging to snotlout's back and front. also he's a shredder.

meatlug is the most like a dog!! she loves playing fetch (pls think abt her little tail wagging with her big ol eyes as she pants bc she's excited bc she wants the ball!! god my heart). she gets winded a little quicker due to being u know. a solid rock. but!! she loves cuddling!! a lap girlie for sure!!! also if anyone is a chewer, it's her. u gotta watch your shoes around her!!!!

barf and belch play with each other & enjoy chasing!! chase a ball, a stick, the twins, another dragon, etc!! they want to be chased too!! they are ambush predators so anything that'll activate that too!!!! putting your hand under a blanket and moving it quickly back and forth will get them to run & bat at it like a cat!! they also enjoy hopping between ruff & tuff's shoulders!!!

as for things that need to be hidden: shoes, any paper materials, any jackets, & fabric in general. sometimes the shirt they're wearing gets shredded bc the dragons felt like it. snotlout especially ends up with shredded t-shirts. the gang has to watch where they set their backpacks down!! also sometimes dangly shiney earrings will get a pounce or two at them!!!!

also probably don't have an actual cat or dog near the dragons until they're good & trained 😭

Zephyr rushed into her father‘s arms

Z: nothing happened?

Z:HUH?

a few pods to the right, there is some noise. It sounds a bit like whistles to Zephyr….

He was startled by the loud horns, but his arms were open for Zephyr, who he knew would be spooked by the sudden noise. He held her close as they waited to see what would happen next.

"It's okay, Zeph. We'll be fine." He didn't actually know that, but he didn't want her to be scared. "Just stay close."

The capsules opened with a loud hiss, and he tilted his head to get a better look at the movement in the pod near them. Were they saying something? He didn't let go of Zephyr. He didn't know who this was, where they were from...what their intentions were.

"H-hello, there. Sorry to disturb you. We saw the glass was cracked..."

How do you shade your art?

Hi there! Great guestion.

Colorwise I like to use a darker and more saturated version of the color I am going to shade. For example for a blue tone I will use a darker blue or more a purple tone to shade.

As for brushes (I assume you are asking for digital art, it is what I most post on my art account 😉) I like to use an airbrush for bigger areas and then I use a soft brush for smaller areas and details.

Trick or treat?

TREAT!!!! have a modern au scenario i just came up with!!

hiccup & stoick have a talk

Hiccup crosses his arms and sulks as he sits in the front seat of the car. His father climbs into the driver's seat. Hiccup turns his head away to avoid seeing his father's hands grip the wheel. He always holds the wheel before starting the car like this when he wants to talk. And he should be sighing- yes. There it is.

"Hirschel," Stoick begins.

"Dad, I know," Hiccup interrupts, sinking further into the seat as he keeps his eyes out towards his window. "I'll stop going out when you're not looking and I'll get my grades up. Throw away the only things I'm passionate about so I can get a 'real job.'"

"Y'don't gotta have an attitude about this," Stoick says. The disappointment in his tone does nothing for Hiccup anymore. "I'm not asking you to throw what you love away, but to prioritize what you're doing with where you're at now in your life."

"Gee, hearing that makes me wish I had bulging muscles like Snotlout and join the football team. You'd let me focus my time in that if I had two braincells and had the body for spine injuring, concussion causing sports," Hiccup grumbles.

"Don't talk about your cousin like that. Don't call him that name either, it's rude." Stoick scolds. Hiccup rolls his eyes at his father. "Don't roll your eyes at me."

"Snotlo- Gary, is rude. And you're not denying what I said. If I were sneaking out to go train for something YOU cared about, you'd not give a shit about how I'm doing in school! Or that I don't listen to you."

"My problem isn't WHAT you're doing, it's HOW you go about it. I'd be telling you the same thing no matter what you'd be doing," Stoick says. "It's just... sneaking away to the Sanctuary when yer mother isn't even here, hell NO adult is there... I don't want you to get hurt."

"I know what I'm doing! Mom taught me what I need to know!" Hiccup says as he flails his arms about in frustration. "I know how to handle myself better than you do! I'm not gonna lose a limb or something."

"Hirschel, dragons are still animals, and animals are unpredictable, even if you know every last detail about them. Going there at night by yourself without anyone knowing just so you can get closer, it's not safe for you!"

"What so I should just wait for Mom get home so I can go over and be fine and dandy, guaranteed?"

"Your mother barely comes home as it is," Stoick says, sighing.

"Given your charming demeanor, I can see why," Hiccup mutters under his breath. He pauses and continues his refusal to look at his father, especially now that he's gone too far. There's a long, long, beat of silence that makes Hiccup's heart race. If there's a time for his father to yell, it'd be now.

Except he doesn't.

Hiccup sits up straight as the car starts. He feels a lump in his throat at hearing a sniffle from his father.

"Dad?"

"Hm?"

"I'm sorry. I-I don't- It's not your fault she's never here, I just... I feel so trapped and even if I were to ask you'd probably say no... I just. I'm sorry."

Stoick sighs and Hiccup winces.

"I know, lad," Stoick says softly. Hiccup can see his father wiping a tear away out of the corner of his eye. "I don't know what to say anymore, you know?"

"I know, Dad."

There's another beat of silence.

Hiccup finally turns and looks his father in the eyes. "... Can we go home, please?"

"Aye, we can do that."

As they head home, Stoick clears his throat.

"Not this weekend, but next weekend, two weeks from now, if you can at least bring your Math grade up by one letter, I can take you in the evening after the Sanctuary closes. You can... show me what you've learned."

Hiccup huffs and feels a small bit of relief in his chest. "Deal."

Zephyr leads her father to the room with the plants. The path there is thankfully still intact and not damaged by logs and wood like the other doorway is, and the three of them pass through, Stjarna making odd noises as Zephyr just inches a little closer to her father. Just in case.

But alas, those fears are quickly forgotten-

“Look, Da! There are the strawberries!” Zephyr darts out of her father’s grasp over to the glass case with the strawberries, as Stjarna does not seem to mind them - although she has yet to eat a single one and clutches them in a hand.

Zephyr almost jumps out of her skin when her father suddenly appears behind her.

“Have you been eating those strawberries?”

Zephyr denies it, but in all honesty, those are the best she’s ever eaten. She has no regrets. She walks across the room, looking at the other fruit, but the glass doors protecting the plants won’t budge. It seems Stjarna will have to stick to those.

But what she has found is another button, and buttons in this strange place do strange things…so of course she presses it. It’s not red this time…so it should be fine, right?

Metal screams in rusty agony and a window in the ceiling appears. Zephyr blinks, startled by the blinding sunlight -

“What is the Star lady doing?!” Zephyr asks her father as Stjarna appears to hum happily and stands in the sunbeam.

“I guess she likes sunlight…is she a plant?” Zephyr wonders aloud.

"Uh-huh. Now Zephyr, you should know better than to lie. I know you ate those strawberries." He wasn't mad, per se, just didn't know what to expect from the contraption they were in.

He stuck close to his daughter as they made their way through the ship.

His mouth dropped open at the sudden noise and stream of light flooding in.

He tilted his head. "Hm...I can't say for sure. Who knows how long it's been since she last saw sunlight? I'd be soaking it in, too."
