To continue this wonderful Hae Soo's pregnancy plot line - their daughter asks So how he and mom met *cries rainbows*
i just wanted to say thanks again for your help in coming up with the daughter’s name. i also want to let you know that i hate you for suggesting me this prompt because my heart is so sad right now i dont think i’ll ever recover. i wish this was real *cries forever*
Today is So’s turn to pick up Byulfrom her first day of second grade. Usually it’s Hae Soo that picks her upbecause she likes to drive Byul to their favorite local eatery to have somemother-daughter time.
Today though, Soo was feeling sick, and his sister-in-law Myung Hee, is helping with Soo’s recovery.
So waited just outside the schoolgates with his car for his daughter. Such a small mundane act, and yet it meanteverything to him that he is married, and a father. As he stood there, hethought back to a time in his life when he was a drastically different man tothe one he is today. That hateful lost man that lived in a world that sought tokill him every day.
When he was Gwangjong, he wasconstantly fearing for his life. Loneliness was such a heavy price for power, and yet he had to endure it all. Especially after Hae Soo died, he didn’t thinkthat life was even worth living. But he did, and he persisted. Because hisnation needed him. His Hae Soo who would someday be born as Go Ha Jin someday, needed him. She needed him to be the king that the nation and the future needed. And so the king he was.
But on this ordinary, clear day—heis just a man, driving an SUV in a time that offered all of the luxuries thatpeople in the 10th century wouldn’t have even been able to comprehend, muchless envision.
He still couldn’t believe that hemanaged to be here, with Ha Jin. Living a simple, and happy life.
“Apa!” Byul shouts from beyond thegates. So waved back. She was running towards him now, an eager smile on her lips.
“Byul-ah!” he grabbed her under herarms and lifted her up into a tight embrace. Byul kissed his cheekaffectionately.
“How was your day appa? I learnedso many new things from teacher-nim today. I learned some math, and some science, and this boy tugged on my pigtails and I got really mad. Also did you know thatmy name means star? Teacher-nim said so, and I thanked her when she said thatmy name is very pretty,” she said, proudly.
“You had so much happen to youtoday! And yes, your name does mean star. It took a while for your mom and meto decide on your name, but we knew it the moment you were born.”
“I love my name. Thank you appa.I’ll make sure to thank eomma when she gets back from imo’s house.”
“Are you hungry?”
She nodded her head.
“Let’s go sit by that bench, andhave some snacks. You can tell me about your day too, alright?”
When they sat down, So pulled outthe kimbap that he made earlier. He even arranged the sliced rolls into a faceto make Byul happy.
“Thank you appa. I will eat well!”
“Eat slowly though,” he remindedher.
“I will, appa.”
So enjoyed watching his daughtereat. There was something so comforting in watching someone else, especially aloved one, enjoy the food that you specially prepared for them.
Byul was already halfway done withher food, when she looked up abruptly, and surprising him, asked him when heand Ha Jin met.
“What made you so curious?”
“Teacher-nim was sharing to theclass today about how she met her husband and it made me want to know too.”
So paused for a long moment. Hereally didn’t know how to answer her question. He couldn’t just very well tellher that on their first encounter, he had saved her, and then proceeded to pushher mother off a horse. He still cringes when he thinks back at that moment. Hewas so cruel and tactless. Even if he knows that he did that because he had tosave face, it still didn’t excuse his actions. But when he was the wolf-dog,people expected a certain type of behavior.
“Well,” he began. “Let’s just saythat your mother was about to fall, and hurt herself and I caught her just intime.”
“What did you think about her whenyou saved her?”
“Not much really. I didn’t knowwhat it was, but I just felt like I needed to save your mother,” he stilldidn’t know what it was that made him save her that fateful day either.
“So you didn’t love her yet?”
“What are they teaching you in thatschool?” he teased. “To answer your question, no I didn’t. Not yet anyways. Idon’t think that I could tell when I did either Byul-ah. I was already in themiddle before I knew myself that I had already began to fall for your mother.”
“I want to find someone that lovesme the way that you love eomma.” Byul said matter-of-factly.
“I wasn’t always like this though.I have wronged your mother many times in the past and I’m not proud of it. That’salso why when I was given a second chance with her, I was determined to liveeveryday like it was the last, and vowed to love her the way that a woman likeher deserved to be loved.”
“Second chance? What happened,appa?”
He took another pause, “your motherleft. To somewhere so far away that I thought that I would ever see her again. But then I did. I don’t know how it happened, but it did. And I have thankedthe stars every day since then, for bringing her back to me.”
Byul was looking at him, her browsfurrowed adorably in thought.
She’s so much like her mother, hethought.
“I’m still confused, appa,” shesaid finally.
“You’ll understand somedayByul-ah,” he reassured her.
Ha Jin once told him that a homewasn’t a place, it was whatever it was that made you feel safe, and loved, andwanted. In his entire life he never would’ve imagined home to be a person. Twopeople, more specifically. He is finally home.
And he has been home for a whilenow.
Prompt HS and WS modern day go to a haunted house. He is scared but she is not 😆
i am so trash for holiday themed fics. enjoy~
“I refuseto go to a place that finds scaring people to be entertaining.”
It was Halloween, and in terms of being excited for the holiday, she absolutely was not thrilledat all for this to be Wang So’s answer.
“But that’sthe fun of it. Come on, there all harmless tricks anyways. You refused to golast year, and the year before that, can’t we just got his once. Hmm?”
“We didn’t butthat was only because you were sick, and we spent the whole night watchinghorror and slasher flicks, which by the way, I didn’t like at all,” he reminded her.
“Yeah youdid. Don’t lie, you were at the edge if your seat,” she persisted.
“I was not.”
“You weretoo.”
“Says who?”
“You were murmuringin your sleep about a ghost in the attic.”
“What? You nevertold me this,” he looked embarrassed.
“I didn’t wantto hurt your pride.”
“But you’refine with doing that now?”
“I will, only because I am determined to go to that haunted house, and I will go with or without you,” she folded her arms, her eyes intent and final.
“Why do I evenbother to fight you? You’re really mean for someone so small.”
Soo grabbedthe car keys, and she practically shoved him out of their apartment.

The hauntedhouse that they wanted to go to was in the center of a festival that was prettytame on the scary part of Halloween. The attraction however looked like somethingfrom a movie set, fog machines, and realistic webs draped the surroundingtrees. It was only ten at night but the place already made everything feelextra eerie.
“Now thatwe’ve seen the place, can we go home now? I’ll even make that hot chocolate youlike, Soo-ah.”
“No. Nowget your butt into that house and let’s get out adrenaline pumping,” she said, eagerly.
Soo had todrag him to the house. The line at the entrance was long, but the wait wasquite short. The employees were dressed in bad witch and pumpkin costumes. Theylet in a group of a people at a time.
Soo and Sowas grouped with a family with two small children when they finally got in. Shecould not hold in her excitement.
“This placelooks really cheap,” he observed.
“It can’tbe authentic now can it?”
“I guessnot, I just—” he yelped, “what was that?”
So held tightlyonto her arms. A man had just yelled a very unenthusiastic boo at them.
She rolledher eyes, “it was some guy in a skeleton costume. That wasn’t even scary. I knewthat they’d use jump-scares at these things, but the least that man could’ve donewas hide himself better, I could literally see him crouching from a mile away.”
They passedthrough a tunnel that was draped with ribbons of white that had red paint smearedon all of them. They had to crouch as they navigated the narrow path. They walkeduntil the tunnel made a sharp left, and a bunch of rubber spiders and snakes wassuddenly, and unceremoniously dumped on them. So reached for her hand again, and she laughed in disbelief.
“You canwatch all of the horror movies under the sun, but you can’t help but quell withfear at the sight of toy critters? You’ve gotto be kidding me.”
“Soo-ah,they came out of nowhere. They were justdumped on us, with no warning, and I’m supposed to remaincalm?” his eyes were wide.
Shemotioned to the family that was a little ahead of them, “you see that girl that’sholding on to her mom’s hand? She actually looks bored—as am I,” she yawned.
“Then let’sget home then. You’re being especially harsh to me,” he pouted.
“There, there. When we get home, I’ll make you some of your favorite sugar cookies, ifyou’ll make me some of your infamous hot chocolate. Okay?” she gave him hermost doe-eyed look.
“I’m willingto make that deal,” he said, grinning.
